‘Always unpopular’: Leeds United told one of their players isn’t actually liked

Lee Hendrie spoke about how Luke Ayling is ‘always unpopular wherever he goes’ after the Leeds United star wound up the Hull City fans on Wednesday.

Daniel Farke’s side recorded a goalless draw against Hull City, with Joe Rodon getting sent off for Leeds and the home team missing an absolute sitter with minutes left on the clock.

But Luke Ayling provided the entertainment away from the action, including when he was subbed off in the 90th minute.

Ex-Aston Villa midfielder Lee Hendrie stated that the right-back was ‘giving the Hull fans a bit of stick’, as he told Soccer Special on Sky Sports News (20/09/23 at 9:40 pm).

Not only during the game did Ayling’s antics annoy the Hull fans, but also how he walked off the pitch when he was taken off.

It was a slow walk from the Englishman, including grabbing onto the ball as it came to him and then throwing it back into play.

‘Unpopular’ Luke Ayling

“Luke Ayling is always unpopular wherever he goes,” said Hendrie. “I think he is giving the Hull fans a bit of stick.”

Leeds’ defence starting to show consistency

That’s three clean sheets on the bounce for the Yorkshire side and finally some positive talk about their defence.

For far too long, Leeds have looked toothless, error-prone and nervy at the back.

But that was mainly in the Premier League, as Farke, now he is starting to get comfortable, is slowly starting to make things happen.
