In Rajasthan’s political arena, Congress candidate Brijendra Ola from Jhunjhunu seat has declined to contest Sabha elections, citing lack of interest. He informed former CM Ashok Gehlot and former Deputy CM Sachin Pilot about his decision during a public relations campaign in Tatija, Khetri.
Ola voiced his reluctance, stating, “Make anyone contest elections, I will provide full help.” Despite being urged by party leaders like Gehlot, Pilot, and state President Govind Singh Dotasra, Ola shared that his entry into the election field was motivated by the party’s need to address a crisis.
As the current MLA from Jhunjhunu Assembly seat, Ola has held the position for four consecutive terms. This is his debut Lok Sabha ticket, succeeding his father Shishram Ola, a former MP from Jhunjhunu Lok Sabha seat. His wife, Rajbala Ola, has also contested in Lok Sabha elections previously.
The recent change in Congress candidates in Rajasthan includes Jaipur, where Sunil Sharma returned his ticket, leading to Pratap Singh Khachariyawas’ nomination. In Bhilwara, C. P. Joshi replaced Damodar Gurjar, while in Rajsamand, Damodar Gurjar was chosen after Sudarshan Rawat withdrew.
The reshuffling of candidates reflects the party’s efforts to select viable contenders for the upcoming elections, as it navigates through organizational shifts and candidate preferences.
