Two other members appointed for the three-year term are professor (retd) Sachidananda Mohanty, former VC, Central University of Odisha and professor Shashikala Gulabrao Wanjari, VC, National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA), New Delhi, the ministry said in its latest notification. Ashish Chauhan, a mechanical engineer from IIT Bombay and alumnus of IIM Calcutta, is known for his expertise in financial market policies. The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) appointed him as MD and CEO of NSE for five years in July 2022, marking his second stint with the exchange. He was also a founder-member of the NSE. During his tenure at BSE (Bombay Stock Exchange) as CEO, the exchange got listed in 2016 and achieved significant milestones under his guidance. For Q3 FY24, NSE recorded an 8 per cent rise in consolidated net profit to Rs 1,975 crore. The exchange contributed Rs 28,131 crore to the exchequer in the first nine months of FY24 and is now awaiting approval to initiate its IPO process. On the other hand, Sridhar Vembu, the Co-founder and CEO of Zoho Corporation, a Chennai-based tech company, leads a global team of over 15,000 employees. Zoho Corporation is the parent company of several technology brands including ManageEngine, Zoho.com, TrainerCentral, Zakya, and Qntrl.
