Islamabad, March 11 (IANS) – Asif Ali Zardari has been sworn in as the 14th President of Pakistan, according to a statement from the President’s Office. Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa administered the oath at the President’s House on Sunday, attended by top officials, politicians, and foreign dignitaries.

Zardari, Co-chairperson of the Pakistan Peoples’ Party Parliamentarians, secured 411 out of 181 votes from all electoral colleges in the election held on Saturday. The ruling coalition candidate received significant support from the parliament and provincial assemblies, with 255 votes from the joint session of both houses, among others.

The 68-year-old Zardari is now serving his second term as President, having previously held the position from 2008 to 2013. He is the first civilian to be elected to the presidency for a second term in the country’s history. The swearing-in ceremony was a significant event attended by high-profile figures.

The election victory marks a new chapter in Pakistan’s political landscape, with Zardari set to take on the responsibilities of leading the nation once again. As he embarks on his second term, the country will be looking towards him for leadership and guidance in the coming years.
