Captain Sandra “Sandy” Yawn from Below Deck Mediterranean shared she would never like to work with former Bosun Ruan Irving again. The popular reality TV series recently returned with its season 8, Mustique. It features many new cast members and a few controversial stars who created much drama in previous seasons. One such name is second Steward, Kyle Viljoen, who joined season 8’s crew in episode 3. The young man previously appeared in Below Deck Mediterranean season 7 and got the title of the drama queen.

Recently, Captain Sandy appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen and discussed which cast member she wouldn’t work with again. While the top contenders were Natalya Scudder or Kyle, the experienced Captain picked a different name. She claimed she wouldn’t hire season 8’s Bosun, Ruan, again at any cost.

The 58-year-old reality star said, no. Not in a million years. No. Sorry.” Apart from her response, Captain Sandy also claimed she hadn’t heard from Ruan for a long time. She hinted that she hadn’t talked to him since his journey concluded on Below Deck Mediterranean.

Ruan Irving’s Forged Document Scandal Explained

It’s understandable why Captain Sandy doesn’t want to see or work with Ruan again, as he was part of a major fake documents scandal. Senior crew members working on a Below Deck yacht must have certain qualifications. However, Ruan did the unthinkable when he forged fake documents to bloat his resume. During the premiere episode, board authorities flagged the new Bosun’s records as “not originals.” His certifications, like Yacht Masters, were completely fake, which led Captain Sandy to kick him out of the ship. Ruan’s entry and exit in the first episode make it obvious why Sandy picked his name.

Ruan’s exit from the show was completely his mistake. While he didn’t seem like a bad guy or as controversial as some of the other crew members, his actions proved he was untrustworthy. Captain Sandy likes to surround herself with honest people. She wants her charters to be successful and the communication to be seamless. Unfortunately, Ruan’s fake documents imply he wasn’t the right Bosun for Captain Sandy’s yacht. The former Below Deck Mediterranean cast member could have caused much drama on the ship. Therefore, the Captain made the right decision by sending him home.

Ruan’s exit did come with a positive. Former Deckhand Luka Brunton got promoted and assumed the role of the Mustique’s Bosun. Luka debuted on the franchise in Below Deck Down Under season 2. He’s a young guy with only seven years of experience in the yachting industry. Luka secured a Bosun job fairly early in his career, which will help him take himself to another level. It will be interesting to see how Luka handles his new duties as a Bosun on Below Deck Mediterranean, as he’s now a senior.

BelowDeck Mediterranean airs Mondays at 9 p.m. EDT on Bravo.
