Controversy erupts over Chief Engineer, Kerala Minister’s staff ‘fight’ in secretariat

Surat, Feb 24 (IANS) The Congress party in Surat is facing internal conflict after Congress-AAP alliance allotted Bharuch Lok Sabha seat to AAP, sparking discord at a crucial time before Lok Sabha elections. Faisal Patel, son of late Congress leader Ahmed Patel, expressed disappointment at the decision.

Faisal Patel stated, “My bond with the people of Bharuch, my father’s parliamentary constituency, is profound. The recent developments dishearten me, but I differ with the high command’s decision.” He intends to engage with party leadership to seek resolution.

In response, CR Paatil, BJP’s Gujarat President, dismissed the impact of the alliance on BJP’s stronghold in Bharuch and Bhavnagar. He claimed, “These seats have remained with the BJP during Ahmed Patel’s lifetime and will continue to do so, regardless of any alliances.”

Moreover, Rabhubhai Rabari, a veteran Congress leader, criticized the controversial appointment of the city chief without consultation. Rabari’s dissatisfaction reflects broader concerns within the party, warning that ignoring these issues could harm Congress’ electoral prospects.

Congress has also decided to contest two seats in Goa and allocate one seat in Haryana to AAP as part of its electoral strategy. The nomination of Chaitrarbhai Vasava as the AAP candidate for the Bharuch Lok Sabha seat by the INDIA bloc further adds to Gujarat’s political narrative.

The Congress-AAP alliance’s decision to allocate Bharuch and Bhavnagar seats to AAP has drawn mixed reactions, with Faisal Patel expressing disappointment and BJP dismissing any threat to its dominance in the region. The internal conflicts within the Congress party hint at potential challenges in the upcoming elections.
