Malaysian singer Nidza Afham was quite popular for his covers and had also participated in reality shows. After being reported missing, a search was on, and his body was found on Wednesday night (Aug 14) in a river near Sungai Klang Bridge.
He was last reported jogging alone at Sultan Suleiman Stadium at around 8 pm on Tuesday before going missing.
His family started searching the area after a few hours and recovered his phone and wallet near a bridge.
Afham’s family subsequently filed a missing person report at around 4 am.
Nidza’s sister Afrina Hanie told the Malaysian media that her brother was probably robbed since cash and his wallet were missing, while his identity card, student card, and photos were untouched.
Nidza Afham’s body was later discovered at around 7 pm on Wednesday by a fisherman.
Talking to the media, Nidza Afham’s father stated that he has accepted his son’s demise.
He added that his son was very obedient and always helped his siblings a lot. He also revealed that the last time he contacted his son was on WhatsApp last night, and his son wanted to give him some pocket money.
Nidza’s father, Mokhtar Mahmud, said that he will let the police do the investigations, and the family is waiting for the results of his autopsy.
Nidza Afham’s rise to fame
Nidza Afham gained much fame for his covers on YouTube, especially his rendition of d’Masiv’s “Rindu Setengah Mati” (Missing You to Death), which boasted over 6 million views. In 2021, he released his single “Ternyata Bukan Aku” (Clearly Not Me).
Nidza Afham’s sister revealed that if it weren’t for his girlfriend’s alert, the family would not have realized that he was missing.
Afham’s sister paid tribute and also thanked his girlfriend for raising the alarm.
Afrina Hanie emphasized that Nidza’s girlfriend, Hazmiera, was the last person to communicate with him and the first to notice his disappearance.
Aufahanie, 21, stated that Hazmiera has been deeply affected by the demise of her brother, as she never expected this to happen.
When she first reported the matter, Afrina Hanie’s mother and siblings never realized that he was missing.
Afrina Hanie also stated that the family was able to trace Nidza’s last location thanks to his girlfriend and were able to act quickly.
Nidza’s last rites will be conducted at the Islamic Cemetery of Kampung Felda Bukit Cherakah after the post-mortem is completed.
