Shah Rukh Khan fans, prepare to be blessed, for even when it’s his birthday, the Indian megastar is granting your wishes by treating you with the Dunki teaser on November 2, 2023. Celebrating his 58th birthday, the Pathaan and Jawan actor has revealed a better look at his upcoming Hindi film with director Rajkumar Hirani. The comedy-drama film has been produced under the banner of Red Chillies Entertainment, Jio Studios and Rajkumar Hirani Films. Hirani has written it with Abhijat Joshi and Kanika Dhillon.
Also starring Taapsee Pannu, Dia Mirza, Vicky Kaushal, and Boman Irani, the first SRK-Rajkumar Hirani collaboration is going to circle the concept of “donkey flight”, which refers to the illegal means of immigration and backdoor entry into international nations like the UK, USA and Canada. The initially released Dunki title announcement video, though remained vague about what the film would deal with, its final scene featured a scene that aptly conveyed the thoughts behind the concept as a group of people can be seen walking in the desert to reach their destination as an aeroplane flies over them, containing all those passengers who have access to official documentation like passports and visa.
The Dunki drop 1 signifies that more teasers of the film will be dropping before its final premiere, much like how the Jawanprevue was revealed way before the actual trailer of the movie dropped. In this brand-new sneak peek, we can see Shah Rukh Khan take on the role of Hardy at the centre of a comical chaos. The first scene looks at a group of people dressed in all black, walking through the desert to reach their destination. From a distance, a man locks his target at them and is ready to shoot them as they run for their lives, having opted for this unlawful means of travel on the map.
While this is a painful reality for many who don’t have privileged access to official papers, the scene then shifts and introduces us to Hardy’s family consisting of four others – Taapsee Pannu as Manu, Buggy, Balli and Vicky Kaushal as Sukhi. Hardy narrates his predicament as his entire family desires to take off to London. In his desperate attempts to woo the government representative so that all of their documents are processed easily, Hardy offers him an unlikely bribe by mentioning that his and Manu’s firstborn will be named after this man working on their papers.
While Khan and his fans anticipate the release of Dunki movie (produced by Gauri Khan and Rajkumar Hirani) in theatres on December 22, 2023, and on December 21 for overseas territories, his last project with Atlee, Jawan, is still faring well at the cinemas. Its extended cut has also been released on Netflix for King Khan’s birthday. His first movie of the year, Pathaan, with Siddharth Anand, is now streaming on Prime Video.
Boman Irani’s character has also been teased as Gulati. Moreover, Dunki Drop 2 will be “coming soon”, as mentioned at the end of the video dropped on Khan’s 58th birthday, which means that more plot details will be outed in the weeks ahead now that the Dunki fever has begun.
