Elon Musk blasts cowardly media shills for ignoring massive border crisis

Billionaire Twitter(X) owner Elon Musk has accused the establishment press of purposefully ignoring the border crisis.

Musk trotted out the accusation after Fox News reporter Bill Melugin noted in a tweet posted Wednesday that mainstream networks, aside from Fox News, were nowhere to be seen at Eagle Pass to cover the gigantic amount of migrants illegally crossing over into the States.

“Watching the TVs at gym in Eagle Pass. Every single local news station in the San Antonio market, both English & Spanish, are leading their shows and have much of their A blocks centered on the border crisis and the mass illegal crossing in Eagle Pass today. National networks were MIA at the bridge today, other than @FoxNews,” Melugin tweeted.

The tweet prompted many replies, including one from Musk.

“This gets no coverage because the media NPCs are instructed not to cover it,” he tweeted.

NPC is short for “non-player character.” It’s a pejorative used to describe people who act like subservient, mindless automatons.

In fairness to the media, late Wednesday night ABC News “managed to give considerable airtime to the crisis,” according to NewsBusters. NBC News predictably completely ignored it.

Also, by Friday The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, and CNN had also covered the Eagle Pass crossings.

“The Defense Department is ramping up resources at the US-Mexico border as officials describe a surge in border crossings in places including Eagle Pass, Texas, where the mayor has declared a state of emergency,” CNN reported.

“The move comes as migrant crossings along that border are rising, surpassing 8,600 over the last 24 hours, according to a Department of Homeland Security official. That’s up from around 3,500 daily border arrests after the expiration in May of Title 42 triggered new consequences for those who cross the border illegally. There were more than 8,000 apprehensions on Monday,” according to CNN.

Not bad.

Still, the coverage has been mostly muted compared to the coverage that other topics — topics that are beneficial to the Democrat Party — have received.

All this comes amid reports that the Department of Homeland Security thinks it has the right to regulate so-called “misinformation, disinformation, and malinformation.”

“In heavily redacted memos obtained by Americans for Prosperity Foundation (AFPF) and reviewed exclusively by Fox New Digital, the agency appeared to circulate ahead of the launch of the disinformation board justification that DHS has regulatory or statutory authority in the ‘the MDM Space’ – short for “misinformation, disinformation, and malinformation,” according to Fox News.

Recall that the Biden DHS tried to launch an Orwellian Disinformation Governance Board last year. Plans for the board fell apart after massive backlash against what critics called the administration’s “Ministry of Truth.”

“If DHS believes it has the authority to police people’s online speech, it should be open with the public about what those authorities are,” AFPF director of investigations Kevin Schmidt said to Fox News in response to the latest bombshell.

“The idea that any agency with such vast political power believes it has the authority to determine what ideas count as good or true upsets the delicate balance of power established by our founding fathers,” he added.

This bombshell is relevant to the border crisis discussion because the administration has tried to blame so-called “disinformation” for it. Never mind the administration’s lax border policies. And never mind the president’s decision to nix every one of former President Donald Trump’s successful border policies …
