Read on to learn more about this evolving story.

As already reported, the Bangladeshi PM was forced to relinquish power and resign after widespread anti-government protests, which led to the death of more than 300 people in the ensuing violence.

Thousands of protesters overran the official residence of the Prime Minister, ‘Ganabhawan,’ and vandalized the property.

Social media is filled with rumors that the Hindu cricketer of the Bangladeshi Cricket team, Liton Das, has had his house torched.

However, this news is not true. The fact is that former cricketer and the MP of the Awami League, Mushrafe Murtaza, has had his house burned down by the protesters.

Sheikh Hasina has been at the helm of affairs for the last 20 years of the 30 years when there was democracy in Bangladesh. The remaining period of the country’s existence was under Martial Law.

Sheikh Hasina is the daughter of the Father of the Nation of Bangladesh, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his whole family were assassinated in 1975. Sheikh Hasina was in New Delhi when a group of military officers machine-gunned Mujib’s whole family.

Sheikh Hasina remained in exile before returning to Bangladesh in the early nineties.

She served as the Prime Minister of Bangladesh from 2009 to 2024.

After resigning, Sheikh Hasina fled to India, and as per a statement by her son Joy, she did not want to leave the country, but her family prevailed upon her to leave the country for her own safety.

Sheikh Hasina boarded a C-130 Hercules aircraft which overflew West Bengal and Bihar before landing at the Hindon Air Force base, where she was received by NSA Ajit Doval.

There are also rumours that Hindu temples are being attacked. Unconfirmed reports suggest that the ISKCON Temple in Dhaka has been vandalized.

However, the news that Liton Das’s house has been burned down is fake.

A well-known reporter writing on X said that the news about Liton Das is false and no such incident has happened.

He also added that there are attempts to create an atmosphere of fear and division in the country, and the struggle against such forces will be long and arduous.

Liton Das has been the architect of several memorable wins by Bangladesh internationally.

However, whenever he posted any Hindu religious pictures on his social media handle, he had to face the wrath of the Islamists.
