Foo Fighters Disapprove Trump’s Use Of Their Song 'My Hero', To Donate Royalties Accrued  To Kamala Harris' Presidential Campaign

Republican Presidential Candidate Donald Trump and his Campaign team’s devil-may-care attitude may endear to some but often gets them into trouble.

Its latest act of using the Foo Fighters song “My Hero” at Donald Trump’s rally in Arizona without permission has earned the ire of the band and it joined other artists in objecting to the unauthorized use of their music.

Foo Fighters Condemn Use of ‘My Hero’ in Donald Trump’s campaign

Foo Fighters expressed its displeasure in a very vocal way on social media and also snubbed the Trump team by stating that any royalties would be donated to Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign only.

Donald Trump’s campaign team had used Foo Fighters song “My Hero” at a rally in Glendale, Arizona, on August 23.

The band revealed to the media house USA TODAY that the campaign did not seek permission to use the song.

It also stated categorically that if Trump’s team had sought permission to use the band’s song in its campaign it would have been denied.

The Foo Fighters confirmed on Twitter that they had not approved the use of the song, sharing a screenshot of their denial.

The song was played when Robert F Kennedy Jr took the stage, shortly after he announced he was suspending his presidential campaign to support Donald Trump.

When a media house contacted the Trump campaign team to seek its response to the controversy, a Trump campaign spokesperson told the media that they had a license to play the song.

This is not the first time when Trump’s campaign team has been derided for using songs without permission from their creators.

Trump’s use of Celine Dion’s iconic song “My Heart Will Go On” at a rally in Montana was disapproved of by her team.

In another instance, the family of Isaac Hayes also threatened legal action against Trump for using Hayes’ song “Hold On, I’m Coming’ ” in his rallies.

Worse, Hayes’ team highlighted Trump’s lack of integrity and his history of offensive behaviour as the reason why they didn’t want their songs to be associated with Trump’s Presidential campaign.

Foo Fighters’ frontman Dave Grohl had also disapproved of Trump in a 2018 interview with GQ, calling him “a massive jerk.”
