I have tried my best to keep the review as spoiler-free as possible, but there are certain elements that I had to mention to give proper feedback.

Go Go Loser Ranger Episode 2 Review: Can Soldier D Succeed?

Go Go Loser Ranger Episode 2 Review Infiltrating The Enemy Base

This episode starts with background information on how the villainous army came to earth. We are told that this battle between villains and heroes began when a floating fortress appeared along with some otherworldly beings who could not die. But there is one way to erase them permanently, and it is with a divine artefact that every Ranger carries.

Things are becoming more and more interesting as Soldier D has finally infiltrated the Ranger headquarters. Not only that, but he has also officially applied to become a part of the Rangers and is working hard to pass the exam. Then he meets Suzukiri and Sakurama, the girl and the guy whom he met previously when they tried to scout him to join the Rangers. From them, he gets the idea to visit the Red Range’rs base and Soldier D gets his once-in-a-lifetime chance to assassinate the Red Ranger.

This whole anime is so interesting because of how they managed to showcase the villains in a good light and the heroes in a negative light. The heroes here, from the outside, look pretty normal and they seem generous. Specifically, the Red Ranger who is the most famous one out of all, is not only charismatic but also a charming orator. But that being said, he is also a tyrannical dictator who believes in absolute dominance.

According to him, if somebody is weak they should stay in their roles and not bother the powerful. The powerful on the other hand, will also not have any issues with the weak if they just obey the strong. This kind of logic is obviously skewered and flawed, which is why, even when you hear Soldier D or his brethren claim that they dream of conquering Earth, you root for them because at least they’re fighting for a purpose.

But towards the end of the episode, we are given a massive twist and it will be interesting to see just who is an enemy and who is an ally. However, one thing is for sure, Soldier D is not the brightest of the bunch as even when he infiltrated the Ranger headquarters, he came very close to blowing up his cover multiple times.

 Verdict

This season, Go Go Loser Ranger is becoming one of my personal favourites. The concept is fresh and the characters are complex. You do not know who has what ideals in their mind and even though the show is a comedy there is a touch of hopelessness in the entire storyline. Hopefully, we will keep seeing more interesting episodes from this anime.
