‘Going crazy’: Jamie Carragher makes Arsenal fans and Stan Kroenke claim on American TV

Jamie Carragher has claimed ‘you don’t hear’ Arsenal fans being critical of owner Stan Kroenke anymore because the team is doing ‘really well’ on the pitch.

The Liverpool legend was making reference to the problems at Manchester United and the never-ending issues between the supporters and the Glazer family.

According to Carragher, if fans are deeply angry with their owners and want them out, then all of that noise can be blocked out by the manager in the dugout ‘getting hold’ of the club and ‘driving them forward’.

Whilst also using his own team Liverpool and FSG as examples, Carragher also spoke about how, before Mikel Arteta arrived, the tension and frustration between Arsenal fans and owner Stan Kroenke had been growing and at an all-time high, but that’s no longer the case, as he told CBS Sports on Paramount+ (20/09/23 at 7:30 pm).

It wasn’t so long ago that Arsenal weren’t in the Champions League and fans were outside of the Emirates, not only protesting against their American owner, but his desire to enter the European Super League.

But all of that now seems a long, long time ago because Arsenal trashed PSV on their return to the Champions League on Wednesday night, as well as still being unbeaten as they push for the Premier League title again this season.

“I don’t think there are many supporters who like their owners, if I am totally honest,” said Carragher.

“What a football club needs is a manager that gets hold of that football club and drives it forward. I am sure the Manchester United fans weren’t happy with the board before Sir Alex Ferguson came in, the Edwards family.

“FSG at Liverpool. Supporters weren’t happy with them. Jurgen Klopp comes in.

“Mikel Arteta is doing really well at Arsenal, before that, the fans were going crazy at Stan Kroenke. You don’t hear that now because the team is doing really well.

“Manchester United, still, spend enough money in the transfer market to give them an opportunity to compete with the best teams in the Premier League and Europe. But it’s still about a manager getting hold of them and driving them forward, as of yet, they still haven’t got that.”

Can Arsenal win the Premier League title under Stan Kroenke’s ownership?

That’s the big one for Arsenal! If they can somehow win the Premier League title this season, then all of those issues from the past will be forgotten about.

It might be Stan Kroenke’s name above the door, but it’s his son, Josh, who is working closely with the likes of Mikel Arteta and Edu in the background.

And, as of this moment, they have got Arsenal back to their old selves, in terms of the style of play and back in the Champions League.

That all-important final piece is just missing now!
