Starting off from last week’s episode, outside Eun-suk’s house, Du-jin finds Hitter, and the two start to fight. In between, Gi-seok’s other henchman rushes out and, after taking him into the car, runs away. Du-jin and Chun-seok find Eun-suk in the trunk of the other car. Meanwhile, Jung-chan gets surveillance video from the hospital and eventually realises that Gi-seok is using him to clean up his mess.

Du-jin, Chun-seok and Eun-suk realise that Gi-seok has probably kidnapped Jun to blackmail Baek-chul and that he’s probably doing something illegal for them. With this new information, Du-jin and Chun-seok rush off while Na-hee stays behind with Eun-suk. Gi-seok, in the meantime, calls Baek-chul and tells him to rush to him with the gold because he has kidnapped his nephew. When Na-hee reaches the shop, she grows suspicious of Bae-chul, and the two get into a physical altercation in which he knocks her unconscious.

Jung-chan, meanwhile, finds himself at the door of Madam Choi, an underground gold trader, and makes a deal with her while Du-jin and Baek-chul fight with each other after the former finds the gold that Baek-chul had hidden away. In the former situation, Man-dae walks in just as Jung-chan puts the deal on the table, while in the latter, Baek-chul finally tells Du-jin what happened all those years ago – he was illegally smuggling to get cash for Jun’s surgery and one day, things just went sideways which resulted in him dying.

In the end, Du-jin walks off, telling Baek-chul that he won’t have anything to do with Jun because his actions have put their nephew in danger. Elsewhere, Madam Choi puts forth her conditions to go forward with the deal with Man-dae, which leaves him uncomfortable and confused. In the end, Baek-chul’s men knock Du-jin and Seok-chul out, and he promises to complete the job.

The episode starts with Hyo-sun telling Na-hee why Baek-chul has been smuggling gold for Gi-seok. Na-hee calls Du-jin about it while Ji-soo finds the two policemen unconscious. When they come to, they talk to Na-hee, who tells them everything she knows about the gold and Baek-chul’s involvement in it. They use the tracker to go after Baek-chul and possibly help him out while Jung-chan and his associate burn a body to get rid of it!

At Gi-seok’s hideout, Baek-chul tries to get Jun out of the place before making the exchange but is outnumbered until Du-jin, Ji-soo, and Chun-seok break into the warehouse with their car. After pushing it off for some time, an all-out brawl breaks out in which Baek-chul gets stabbed in order to save Du-jin. In the end, Jung-chan and his team also arrive and finally arrest everyone. Unfortunately, when Du-jin gets in the car with Jung-chan and Gi-seok, it turns out that Jung-chan is planning on getting rid of Gi-seok instead of taking him to HQ.

He arrives at Man-dae’s office and almost stabs him when another employee gets in between. However, he ends up murdering both of them in the elevator. Gi-seok goes to meet Madam Choi, who refuses to deal with him and Du-jin and his team get there as well but are unable to get in.

After he runs off this time around as well, Du-jin and Gi-seok get into a maritime chase and fight, resulting in both of them falling overboard and passing out underwater. Chun-seok rescues Du-jin, but he isn’t able to save Gi-seok, who ends up drowning. In the end, all the gold is apprehended, Chun-seok is made Captain, Du-jin is promoted to Lieutenant and Ji-soo is promoted to Sergeant for their hard work. With everything done and dusted, the four and Na-hee go out to patrol the Han River.

Han River Police Episodes 5 and 6 Review

han river police episodes 5 and 6

Well, the last two episodes are a disappointment in every way possible, thanks to their predictable plot and convenient sequences that result in all the right things happening one after another. However, I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed watching Lee Sang-yi in this series. Although you don’t feel empathy for him thanks to his sad upbringing at any point, his acting is excellent, and the sequence during his murder of Man-dae is impressive.

Other than that, I found all the characters quite bland and nothing too exciting about anything that happened. I didn’t understand why they made a big deal with Jung-chan when they simply decided to kill him off and then just forget about him. Apparently, he melts dead bodies in some backyard pool or whatever. Comes completely out of left field and goes nowhere.

Either way, I guess it’s an okay watch if you want something light, short and with a little mystery to watch which has a positive ending. Other than that, this one’s quite forgettable.

Han River Police is streaming on Disney+ and Hulu.
