Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you must have seen the viral Cheesecake Factory video by now. It’s taken over the internet after a woman refused to go on a first date at the food chain – but if my boyfriend took me there I’d be running out of the car.
The clip was posted on TikTok earlier this month and has had more than eight million views. It’s sparked a viral debate on social media about acceptable date locations, but I’m here to tell you one thing. There’s nothing wrong with a date at The Cheesecake Factory!
Woman refuses to go on date at The Cheesecake Factory
In the viral video, a woman sits in the car and has a six-minute rant after her date pulls up at The Cheesecake Factory.
“Let me just get the door for you politely,” he says as she mutters behind his back: “He got me at The Cheesecake Factory.”
When he arrives at her door she makes a “No” symbol with her hand and winds down the window with a disapproving look.
She refuses to get out the car and he asks what the problem is with the location, to which she replies: “It’s a chain restaurant.”
“Who takes someone that looks like this to a chain restaurant?” she then repeats to the camera in pure disgust.
The woman explains that she thinks a man should “court” a woman, “take care of her” and “treat her well”.
He then tries to defend himself, saying he has picked her up and is going to pay for her meal. Watch the full video below:
If that was my date I’d be running out the car
Let’s get one thing straight, and most women agree with me here. I’d be running out of that car if my boyfriend took me to The Cheesecake Factory!
It might not be some fancy restaurant with a five-star hotel stay afterwards, but it’s about the company and gesture, not the place or the money spent.
In the video, the guy takes her out for food and even opens up the car door for her like a true old-fashioned gentleman.
Yeah, he may have taken her to a chain restaurant, but who cares? You can’t go wrong with a slice of cheesecake anyway.
Everyone on Twitter agrees, with one person writing: “Would honestly love it if someone took me to Cheesecake Factory tbh.”
“Not a girl but if someone took me on a date to cheesecake factory I would marry them on the spot,” another joked.
That viral list of first-date no-gos is ludicrous
Following the uproar, a Facebook user has created a list of places women “refuse to go on a first date” and it’s gone viral online.
The list starts with The Cheesecake Factory of course, followed by other chain restaurants like Applebee’s, Chili’s, Chipotle and Olive Garden.
It’s not just restaurants on there either. A bar just for drinks, an ice cream date and bowling are supposedly forbidden too.
The whole thing is ludicrous if you ask me. What has the world come to? Let’s all start being grateful for any date we are taken on please!
