Karma struck hard on Tuesday as infamous Texas serial killer Billy Chemirmir, who was an illegal immigrant from Kenya and was suspected of murdering up to 1,000 victims, was killed by his cellmate.

Authorities believe that Chemirmir, 50, could have been involved in as many as 1,000 suspicious deaths. He is suspected of being one of the most prolific serial killers in American history.
The murderer was tried in 2021 specifically for killing 24 elderly patients who were overwhelmingly female and white. Many had jewelry missing but their deaths at first were labeled as natural causes.
He was found dead in his prison cell at Coffield Unit in Tennessee Colony by Texas Department of Criminal Justice officials Tuesday morning following an attack by his cellmate, according to WFAA.
Chemirmir’s cellmate is currently serving a sentence for murder out of Harris County.

“Dallas County District Attorney John Creuzot told WFAA that Chemirmir was killed after apparently making inappropriate comments sexual in nature towards his cellmate’s children. According to Creuzot, the cellmate allegedly beat Chemirmir, dragged him out of his cell, and killed him while other inmates watched. No one intervened and Chemirmir may have been stabbed with a pen, Creuzot said,” WFAA reported.
The cause of death was not revealed and neither was the name of the cellmate due to the ongoing investigation into the murder that is being conducted by the state’s Office of Inspector General.
Chemirmir had previously worked as a home health care aide in several cities in north Texas. He would reportedly murder mostly older white women who were vulnerable patients and steal valuables including jewelry, according to ABC News.
He was indicted on 22 capital murder charges in Dallas and Collin counties. In 2022, Chemirmir was found guilty of capital murder by two separate Dallas County juries for the 2018 deaths of Lu Thi Harris, 81, and Mary Brooks, 87. He was serving life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Chemirmir was caught after a 91-year-old woman survived a 2018 attack and told police that a man had forced his way into her apartment at an independent living community for seniors and tried to smother her with a pillow. He took her jewelry.
Police arrested Chemirmir the following day in the parking lot of his apartment complex holding jewelry and cash, after throwing away a large red jewelry box. Documents in the jewelry box led them to the home of Lu Thi Harris, 81, who was murdered in her bedroom.
“Despite having a slam dunk case, one single female juror who ‘didn’t even go back to [look at the evidence]’ and ‘had her mind made up before she walked in’ refused to convict, according to a family member of a victim who was in the courtroom,” WFAA noted. “The judge in the case declared a mistrial and two new trials had to be held for separate victims in order to secure convictions.”
“In Collin County, where he was indicted on nine capital murder charges, prosecutors said last month they would not seek the death penalty in their cases, following Chemirmir’s two convictions,” ABC News reported.

“I won’t be mourning the murder of convicted serial killer Billy Chemirmir. Rather, my thoughts today are with the families of the precious ladies he murdered,” Collin County Criminal District Attorney Greg Willis declared in a statement. “These families have been through more than we can imagine, and I pray that someday they can find peace.”
Family members of those he was accused of killing expressed shock and relief at the news of the killer’s death.
“My mother died in fear. This man did not have a peaceful passing. There’s some relief in feeling that he didn’t get off easily,” Shannon Dion, whose 92-year-old mother, Doris Gleason, was among those Chemirmir was charged with killing, said during a news conference.
