Jessica Lange is fed up with Hollywood’s prioritization of money over substance.

The award-winning actress, who gained popularity after appearing in 1976’s King Kong remake, recently told The Telegraph that she may retire from acting since “creativity is secondary now to corporate profits.”

“The emphasis becomes not on the art or the artist or the storytelling. It becomes about satisfying your stockholders,” said the 74-year-old American Horror Story alum. “It diminishes the artist and the art of filmmaking.”

She explained that she feels it’s become increasingly rare to find “wonderful films by really great filmmakers,” therefore she has “no desire to see 90 percent” of films that are currently in theaters.

Lange also said that she’s “not interested in these big comic-book franchise films” from banners such as Marvel and DC. “I think that they’ve sacrificed this art that we’ve been involved in… for the sake of profit,” she said.

She also aired several other grievances she has with Hollywood, including ageism and the “frantic editing” that’s utilized today instead of longer, lingering takes. “I don’t know if it’s because the filmmakers think that they can’t hold the attention of the audience anymore,” she said. “That kind of filmmaking drives me crazy.”

Lange, who has been an actor for 47 years now, has starred in such films as Tootsie (1982), Cape Fear (1991), and Blue Sky (1994). She has also appeared in several more recent television shows including American Horror Story, The Politician, and Feud.

Despite her impressive resume, however, Lange doesn’t believe anyone would be upset about her departure from the profession.

“I’m sure they won’t miss me at all,” she said.
