Love Is Blind season 5 began like all other seasons, with singles eager to find love in the pods. From the get-go, one couple hit it off quickly: Taylor and JP. The kindergarten teacher and firefighter bonded by realizing JP had attended the school in which Taylor now teaches. JP’s main personality trait appeared to be loving the American flag, and Taylor was working through insecurities about how she looked. Unsurprisingly, they were the first pair engaged. However, their meeting seemed more awkward than touching, with JP unimpressed with Taylor’s makeup routine.

Not every couple was as smooth sailing as JP and Taylor. Izzy proved himself a hot commodity in the pods, forming connections with fiery Lydia, unsure Johnie, and fun-loving Stacy. Though Lydia claimed Izzy was her top choice, he placed her third, breaking things off. Lydia took the news hard but threw herself into her connection with Milton, a 25-year-old petroleum engineer. The 32-year-old geologist claimed not to mind their age difference, as Milton was 24 during filming, but it will be interesting to see how it plays out after the pods. Lydia accepted an engagement from Milton and put Izzy behind her.

Johnie struggled between 31-year-old insurance agent Izzy and 28-year-old project manager Chris, seemingly feeling a stronger emotional connection with Izzy. The 32-year-old lawyer claimed to crave vulnerability but mystifyingly gravitated toward Izzy despite Chris baring his soul to her regarding a sexual assault he endured in high school. Despite the apparent devotion from Chris, Johnie ultimately broke things off with him, choosing to focus on Izzy.

Izzy bounced back and forth between Johnie and 34-year-old operations manager Stacy, noting the difference in their personalities. Johnie was serious and sweet, whereas Stacy gave off party-girl vibes. When Johnie revealed she had never been in love with her ex-husband and her ex-boyfriend, who died of an overdose, is the only man she’s been in love with, Izzy retreated. Realizing she had made a mistake by choosing Izzy over Chris, she crawled back to Chris with her tail between her legs, asking for a second chance. Surprisingly, Chris chose himself, and the pair didn’t move forward with an engagement.

After dumping Johnie, Izzy proposed to Stacy, who enthusiastically accepted. The pair seemed to have more obvious chemistry than Izzy and Johnie, making her the much more suitable choice. When meeting in person, it was clear the pair were also physically attracted to each other. Despite Izzy’s slew of connections in the pods, after episodes 1-4, it seems he chose the right match.

The most dramatic twist in Love Is Blind season 5 thus far unfolded over episodes 1-4, including Lydia, Uche, and Aaliyah. While Lydia ended up engaged to Milton, the journey was less than smooth. Uche and Aaliyah quickly clicked in the pods but hit a roadblock when Uche attacked Aaliyah regarding a past cheating experience.
