Luana Alonso Opens Up About Reports of Her Getting Kicked Out of the Olympic Games

Luana Alonso from Paraguay has strictly denied a news article stating that she was kicked out of the Paris Olympic Village for “inappropriate behaviour”. The reports started springing up after a British tabloid, The Sun, stated that Larissa from the Paraguayan Olympic Committee said that Luana was causing issues and chose not to stay in the village.

Was Luana Alonso Expelled From The Olympic Village?

The Sun also stated that Luana Alonso, 20, left the village to go to Disneyland Paris instead of supporting her teammates during their event. The Daily Mail also jumped on the bandwagon, suggesting that Luana was distracting her teammates.

Her clothing and fashion were seen as inappropriate, and she was also said to be too friendly with other athletes. The reports also suggested that Luana chose to wear her outfits instead of the flag-bearing outfit the Paraguayan team was meant to wear.

However, Luana opened up about all the reports on her Instagram Story. She cleared up the confusion, stating that she was not kicked out or expelled from anywhere.

Luana also urged people not to spread any fake information about her.

Luana stated,

“I just want to clarify that I was never removed or expelled from anywhere… Stop spreading false information. I don’t want to give any statement but I am not going to let lies affect me either.”

Luana participated in the semifinal event for the women’s 100m butterfly on July 27 but did not qualify. She missed the qualifying round by only 0.34 seconds.

After that race, Luana announced her retirement from swimming but stayed in the Olympic Village for the team.

Luana said,

“I have been swimming for so long, 18 years, and I have so many feelings… Unfortunately, I made the decision to stop and I am happy that my last race will be at the Olympic Games.”

Luana stated that she had been swimming for the past 18 years and was happy that she could retire with the Olympics being her last race.

Luana Alonso was only 17 when she took part in the Tokyo Olympics 2024.
