Mumbai Indians Secure Victory Over RCB in WPL Season 2

Bengaluru, March 2 (IANS) – Mumbai Indians displayed a dominant performance as they defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by seven wickets in Match 9 of the Women’s Premier League Season 2. Electing to field first, Mumbai Indians restricted RCB to 131/6, with Ellyse Perry top-scoring with an unbeaten 44.

In response to the target of 132, Mumbai Indians rode on solid performances by Perry, Yastika Bhatia, and Nat Sciver-Brunt to chase down the total in 15.1 overs. The victory propels Mumbai Indians to the top of the points table with six points from four matches.

Nat Sciver-Brunt led the bowling attack for Mumbai Indians, claiming crucial wickets of RCB skipper Smriti Mandhana and Sabbhineni Meghana. Despite Perry’s efforts, RCB struggled to build partnerships and were restricted to a modest total.

Yastika Bhatia and Hayley Matthews provided a solid start for Mumbai Indians in their chase, with contributions from Sciver-Brunt and Amelia Kerr guiding the team to a comfortable victory. The win comes after Mumbai Indians suffered a defeat in their previous match against UP Warriorz.

With this result, Mumbai Indians maintain their unbeaten record at the top of the table, while RCB face an uphill task to bounce back in the tournament. The Women’s Premier League Season 2 continues to provide exciting cricketing action for fans across the country.
