This is it, the final episode of this part. Let’s see how Rudy reacts to knowing Fitz’s real identity in this Mushoku Tensei Season 2 Episode 12 Review!

Mushoku Tensei Season 2 Episode 12 Overview

Mushoku Tensei Season 2 Episode 12 Title

Mushoku Tensei, also known as Mushoku Tensei Jobless Reincarnation or Mushoku Tensei Isekai Ittara Honki Dasu in original Japanese, is an adventure, drama, and fantasy anime based on a light novel series written by Rifujin na Magonote and illustrated by Sirotaka. This episode is also known as Mushoku Tensei Jobless Reincarnation Season 2 Episode 12 and Mushoku Tensei Isekai Ittara Honki Dasu Season 2 Episode 12.

The latest season of the anime is being directed by Hiroki Hirano, who served as an assistant director of the second part of the show’s first season. However, the studio that produces and adapts the anime remains the same, as that responsibility again falls to Studio Bind, who haven’t really done anything other than Mushoku Tensei. Mushoku Tensei Season 2 Episode 12 Review- I Want To Tell You

Rudy Sylphie Mushoku Tensei Season 2 Episode 12

The cat’s out of the bag, and there is nothing to hide between Sylphie and Rudy anymore. Their destined relationship was built extremely well over the course of this entire season, and even if it was in the foreground of a rather awkward plot point in Rudeus’ inability to get an erection, it was very well crafted and executed. The show also didn’t spend much time dilly-dallying between Rudy and Fitz, as there were actual plot points that were paced well so as not to spoil things.

I’m going to spoil just a little about what happened in the opening moments of this episode because it is otherwise impossible to discuss this episode at all. Rudy accepts Sylphie back in his life with open arms and even reaffirms her feelings and shares them himself. The moment the two share at that point had been built by the show for multiple episodes and was very cathartic. There was an innocence in it that had been missing from many of Rudy’s romantic pursuits so far, mostly because of the kind of character Sylphie is and how innocent the relationship between the duo was when they were first together.

Luke Fitz Ariel Mushoku Tensei Season 2 Episode 12

The role that Princess Ariel and Luke played in making this happen can’t be understated, as the duo have turned out to be quite a fresh take on royals. They have to be that way since Ariel does not have any real power beyond her last name and would be executed or married off the second any hint of dissent is detected coming from her by her family. The show hinted towards her wanting Rudeus’ strength in her efforts against her family, and that would certainly be an interesting direction for the story to head towards.

This episode was also the end of Rudy’s erectile dysfunction arc, and I am just creeped out typing that bit out. Mushoku Tensei’s greatest achievement this season was making something that weird and stupid into a legitimate storyline with a payoff rivaling anything else that has happened in the show so far. I am disgusted but still impressed by the show pulling that off. All of this is without mentioning the connotations of building another arc around sexual relations after ending the previous one and the one before it the same way. Rudy was barely 15, and that’s all I will say about that right now.

This was all we were going to get from the show until Mushoku Tensei Season 2 Part 2 rolled around. Would it kill these studios just to call it Season 3? Either way, despite its rough start, this season managed to pull back quite nicely. It crafted a great narrative that was light on storytelling and less intense than the previous season but still high on character development and tying a few loose ends. A solid end to a solid season of anime!

Verdict

Mushoku Tensei Season 2 Episode 12 was a lovely episode that put to the end a very well-crafted narrative featuring the reunion between two childhood sweethearts, alongside sowing the seeds to an even better second part.
