My Life With the Walter Boys Review: Who Won’t Love a Haven of Boys?

My Life With the Walter Boys Review: Based on the book written by Ali Novak, the Teen Romance Drama is created by Melanie Halsall and directed by a team of directors namely, Jerry Ciccoritti, Winnifred Jong, and Nimisha Mukerji. The series’ main cast includes Nikki Rodriguez, Sarah Rafferty, Marc Blucas, Noah LaLonde, Ashby Gentry, Connor Stanhope, Johnny Link, Corey Fogelmanis, Alisha Newton, Zoë Soul, Isaac Arellanas and more.
The story follows Jackie Howard, who moves to a country town after her entire family’s tragic death. She moves in with her late mother’s best friend, Katherine Walter, and her husband George. Surprisingly, she meets 10 kids– 1 adult, 7 teenage boys, 1 male toddler, and an adolescent girl— and has to live with them. My Life With the Walter Boys Review

Jackie is a young talented extremely skilled teenager who sadly loses all her immediate family members and moves to a country area to live with her guardian and their kids. She expected a place where she would find it hard to fit in, but thanks to her new family members, she learns how to survive, and adapt and also enjoys the love of all the people around. Nevertheless, she still gets stomped by some people who claim she is the orphan who gets all the attention of boys.
Now coming to why this series worked out well, at least for most, is the concept of a city girl living amidst hot young men in a country area. So these young men are not exposed to city life, partying, and things like that but rather live their lives playing around happily, riding horses, excelling in school, and sports, and even spending quality time with family. Being a city girl who recently lost her family, the character development she undergoes while living in the country is intriguing. She wasn’t a bad mean girl to start with but she always tended to be perfect.

When she meets new people, she for once allows herself to sit back and relax, which is something most of us should do as well. The cast really met my expectations because they all played their role well. The parental figures George and Katherine are surely the dream parents every child would want to have. They were highly sweet, talented, knew where and when to put the children in place, and also condition them well. These characters were exceptionally sketched and they’re indeed a source of knowledge for parents to learn from.
The school life, the sports events, cheerleaders, cafes, and such are sweet exposure for viewers as they get to learn how life runs in the countryside. It’s so nice to see young teens’ lives, their decisions, ambitions, romance, and such through the lens of a city girl, which is why I personally liked this series. Though it’s a teen romance drama it still offers other insights apart from their love story. We also have a couple who are trying to save money for their wedding, which again is a good exposure for viewers to take notes from.

The core interest aspect of this series is Jackie and her final decision regarding the boy she wants. Is it going to be Alex or Cole? As they both have equal chances and screen time, it becomes a pique of interest throughout the series. One would watch the entire 10 episodes to find out who she is ending up with and this is a nice strategy of the writer to keep the viewer’s attention till the end.
Final Thoughts
Overall, it’s a nice series to watch maybe once or twice other than that there’s not much that’ll keep one hooked to make them re-watch it again and again. One thing that the series missed is the wide opportunity to make Jackie explore her relationships rather than put her in a love triangle. Come on, with 6 teenagers around her and schoolmates, she is only limited to Alex and Cole? Why? Also, they didn’t show her life story with her family which is a shame. Anyhow, not a terrible watch.
