Philippe Reines: The Man Impersonating Donald Trump During Kamala Harris Debate Prep

The Democratic Party nominee for the US Presidential polls in November, Kamala Harris, and the Republican nominee, Donald Trump, will lock horns in a debate scheduled for September 10, 2024.

Kamala Harris is leaving no stone unturned to rise to the occasion, and she does not want a repeat of the disastrous Joe Biden and Donald Trump debate in June when Trump almost pulverized his opponent.

In fact, it was the debate that led to a chorus of voices demanding Joe Biden step down from the Presidential race and endorse the candidacy of Kamala Harris.

Who is Philippe Reines?

Incidentally, Kamala Harris was spotted at a mock debate, with Philippe Reines role-playing his opponent Donald Trump at Harvard University on September 2, 2024.

The Kamala Harris and Donald Trump debate will be telecast on ABC News.

The debate is the second debate of Trump in his third attempt at the highest executive post of the United States.

According to a report by Reuters, Harris has evolved a strategy to draw the voters’ attention to Trump’s lies, including his belief that he had won the 2020 elections and that the elections were rigged.

This is not the first time Philippe Reines will be impersonating Donald Trump, as he had donned the same role during the preparatory debates of Hillary Clinton during her 2016 election campaign and had also served as her longtime advisor.

Philippe Reines was fastidious in his approach to impersonating the former US president and played his role as an Oscar-winning actor, paying attention to the minutest details. It is rumored that he even wore knee pads to strengthen his legs and made up for his short stature by wearing high heels to match Trump’s height.

Philippe Reines was born in 1969 and was a New York native. He obtained his degree from Columbia University in Political Science and started his career by enrolling in Al Gore’s rapid response team in the 2000 US presidential campaign. He also served as Gore’s mentor at Columbia University and was involved when Gore hosted Saturday Night Live in 2002.

In 2002, Philippe Reines became the press secretary for Hillary Clinton before taking on a more important role as the communication advisor to Clinton’s Presidential campaign.

He also served as Chelsea Clinton’s spokesperson and was a senior communication advisor when Hillary Clinton was serving as Secretary of State under the Barack Obama administration.

However, he had his share of pitfalls, and in 2009, he was at the centre of a controversy when the US Government was trying to reset its relationship with Russia. He was tasked with presenting the Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Geneva.

A faux pas in translating the word ‘perezagruzka,’ which in Russian meant reset, as ‘peregruzka,’ which meant overcharged. Philippe Reines took full responsibility for the error and even emailed Politico, accepting it as a mistake.
