Police officers charged with assaulting attorneys in Lucknow

Lucknow, Feb 29 (IANS) In a shocking incident, eight identified and some unidentified policemen at Vibhuti Khand police station in Lucknow have been booked for allegedly assaulting a group of lawyers at the Summit building, leaving them injured. The FIR was registered on February 28 under various IPC sections.

The incident took place on February 23, and the FIR was filed at the same police station where the accused officers are posted. According to the copy of the FIR, the officers have been charged under IPC sections 147 (rioting), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 325 (hurt) and 504 (insult).

Prior to the assault, the group of lawyers had protested at the police station, demanding action against the officers involved. This incident has raised concerns about the safety and security of individuals seeking justice, as law enforcement officers are expected to uphold the law and protect civilians.
