Re:Zero Season 3 Episode 8 Review: Great! Now, I Need More!

Re:Zero Season 3 Episode 8 Review: Another episode from Re:Zero Season 3 or Re:ゼロから始める異世界生活 (Ri:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu) left us wondering what will happen next. Let us see how this episode turned out.
Re:Zero Season 3 Episode 7 Recap

This episode begins with Emilia discovering a magical device on Regulus’s desk, which allows her to establish contact with Al. She quickly shares crucial instructions, believing they will aid their side in defeating the evil archbishops. Through this interaction, Al uncovers who currently controls towers one and three but is surprised by Emilia’s calm and fearless demeanour. When he questions why she isn’t anxiously awaiting her “Prince Charming” to rescue her, her response reveals just how much she has matured, prioritizing others over herself.
Meanwhile, Subaru learns about Emilia’s situation and begins strategizing his next moves. Despite the chaos, the enemies have left the broadcasting device functional, enabling Subaru to communicate with and reassure the distressed survivors. However, finding someone to address the frightened group proves challenging. Several candidates come to mind, but each declines, unwilling to shoulder such a heavy responsibility.

Surprisingly, even Anastasia, a throne contender and expected leader, steps back from confronting the Archbishop. This leads to Subaru being the obvious choice to step up. Al, however, plays a pivotal role in offering Subaru a sobering reality check. He reminds Subaru that playing the hero comes with the weight of every potential loss. If things go awry, Subaru won’t just face blame—he risks losing Emilia, the person he holds dearest.
Re:Zero Season 3 Episode 8 Review

After the uplifting speech from Subaru, everyone comes together to devise a plan that can be helpful against the witch cult. At first, they line up all the things that the archbishops have demanded and see that everything can be arranged, apart from the Book of Wisdom. However, interestingly, Otto happens to have this book, which he got from Roswaal.
There is much mystery behind this book as it is supposed to be like a gospel for the witch cult, and Otto assures Subaru that he will let Subaru know what he plans to do with that book later. Here, we also get a hint that Roswaal might have some more ulterior motives and plans that our protagonists still do not know about.

Apart from that, we see Subaru finally meet Crusch and see her predicament first-hand. Her entire left side has been cursed, and a surprising outcome occurs when Subaru touches her left hand. On top of this, we also learn from Wilhelm that the swordswoman with whom they fought earlier is the undead corpse of Wilhelm’s wife, Theresia. The Witch Cult likely revived her as a corpse soldier and is now using her as a puppet.

Back in the meeting, more interesting results take place as we see Liliana finding out that she has the blessing of telepathy. It is very probable that the songs that she sings are telepathic in nature, and she never really realised her own powers. Here, Liliana is also successfully manipulated by Priscilla to join her against the Archbishop Of Wrath, as she possesses the power to move people’s hearts with her songs.
Apart from that, Garfiel and Wilhelm will handle Lust, against whom both have grudges, whereas Subaru and Reinhard will handle Emilia and Regulus’s marriage.
Verdict

In this episode, we also see a glimpse of Emilia and Regulus at their wedding altar, but what happens there is something that you should find out yourself. I must say I absolutely need more now that I know the rest of the episodes will come out in 2025. This part really ended on a nasty cliffhanger, and we will sadly have to wait till February before we can continue this story further.
