This episode of Sanda begins with Sanda stopping his shooter from hurting him again. Sanda does not seem very fazed about someone trying to kill him, as he goes on to ask whether he’s actually a danger to others because of all the powerful weapons he has. This scene was absolutely hilarious, but we also get some very important information about the world here. Apparently, in this world, everything is preordained, where even education and marriage are planned.

So the reason people do not want Santa Claus to exist is that they need children who will live their preordained lives and do what they’re told. With the arrival of a legendary character such as Santa Claus, it can have an opposite effect on the children who are currently coddled by the government. Later, we also find out how the children are stopped from doing many things, including having no physical contact with the opposite gender before marriage.

But the most shocking aspect of this entire anime is definitely the fact that there is a new Yuri angle to this whole thing. Fuyumura is actually in love with Ono, who also loves her romantically. So the buildup that happened between Sanda and Fuyumura was just a distraction. But the anime has more interesting concepts, as the people here are banned from worshiping or believing in a higher power. According to the principle, to counteract the ultra-declining and ultra-aging society, one must stop believing in these things.

Today’s episode was very interesting as it cleared up who the real couple of Sanda is. The episode opens with important information, where it is revealed that Sanda can die if he ever falls in love with a child. On the other hand, we get to see a new character, Niko, who is supposed to be Sanda’s fiancé. As government entities make sure that there are as many births of babies as possible, they decide on designated partners for everyone to marry and have a child. One must go through this without questioning, as that is how things are in this society.

Niko has a very vibrant personality, as she does not take life very seriously and also refuses to go with the flow. She did not like doing school chores and even went out during the storm without any issues. At first, it gets established that she is not interested romantically in Sanda, but later it becomes clear that she has some interest in him. Sanda really wanted to tell her that he would not be able to marry her because, after turning into Santa, he now sees his classmates with the eyes of a responsible adult and nothing more.

But the most shocking aspect of this episode is definitely the fact that Ono’s romantic feelings are the reasons that drove her away. She was always sexually interested in Fuyumura, and there was a time she had a dream about her. After waking up from that sleep, Ono goes through puberty, and that is something that you are not supposed to feel in this society.

I liked today’s episode as they showed many things, but at the same time, I think the pacing is a bit too fast. Everything rushes past without any explanation, and the larger narrative becomes difficult to understand.
