Tate Rodemaker’s participation in doubt after concussion, says father Alan

Alan Rodemaker, the father of Tate Rodemaker, has been communicating with the public about his son’s health status, specifically in relation to a concussion. Tate Rodemaker, a 6’4″ football player from Valdosta, Georgia, is known for his high school education at Valdosta High School. Initially, he pledged to play college football for the South Florida Bulls, reaching impressive passing statistics of 6,811 yards and 74 touchdowns during his high school career.

Currently, he is the quarterback for the Florida State University Seminoles. His performance in the 2022 season saw him participate in seven games, complete 18-of-31 passes for 254 yards and two touchdowns, and rush 10 times for 14 yards. Rodemaker has chosen to withdraw from Florida State’s Orange Bowl matchup against Georgia.

Alan Rodemaker, Tate’s father, began his career at Valdosta High School in 2010 as an assistant football coach and gym teacher. By 2016, he had become the head football coach, leading the Valdosta High School football team to triumph in the Georgia State Championship for Division 6A. In the next three years, the team reached the state championship quarterfinals twice. He was also recognised as a dedicated teacher and coach, with his contract renewed by the Valdosta Board of Education for ten consecutive years.

Alan is currently the centre of attention for keeping the public informed about his son’s health status, particularly a concussion sustained by the quarterback during a game against Florida. He has highlighted the uncertainty of the situation, stating that a final decision on Tate’s participation would be made after careful consideration of the protocols and evaluations.

Freshman Brock Glenn, who has only thrown four passes this season, is prepared to start if Rodemaker is unable to play. The protocol timeframe is seen as a hurdle despite Glenn’s impressive performance in practice sessions.

Alan Rodemaker has become well-known not only for his coaching prowess but also his role as the father of Tate Rodemaker, a prominent Florida State quarterback. He has provided crucial updates regarding Tate’s injury and his potential participation in the ACC Championship Game against Louisville. However, information about Tate’s mother and other family members is scarce.

Tate Rodemaker, after enduring a concussion from a severe hit in the game against Florida the earlier week, has his participation in the ACC Championship Game against Louisville in doubt, with his father assessing the chances of playing as “50-50.” In the nine games he played this year, Rodemaker completed 32-of-56 passes for 510 yards, five touchdowns, and zero interceptions.

The possible absence of Rodemaker could result in a significant experience deficit, with true freshman Brock Glenn expected to start if Rodemaker is unable to play. Tate’s concussion happened during the game against Florida, and he went through sideline evaluations, eventually returning for the last offensive play. However, symptoms appeared on Sunday, leading to ongoing weekly evaluations. Head coach Mike Norvell confirmed Rodemaker’s concussion and mentioned that he practiced in limited spots during the week.
