Tottenham summer signing makes appearance in Under-21 win

Tottenham Hotspur striker Alejo Veliz was seen being put through his paces with an individual workout after the EFL Trophy clash with Colchester United.

Alejo Veliz was given a cameo performance as Tottenham Hotspur’s Under-21’s hammered Colchester United on Tuesday night.

With no European action for Tottenham this season, the focus turned to the EFL Trophy with the Spurs Under-21’s in action.

Tottenham’s youngsters headed over to Essex and came away with a thumping 5-0 victory.

Jamie Donley hit the opener in the first half before Spurs ran riot after the break.

Jude Soonsup-Bell made it two before Donley grabbed his second, with Will Lankshear making it four.

That was three goals in seven minutes before Soonsup-Bell wrapped up the scoring by completing his brace.

There was also a runout for Alejo Veliz as the Argentinian striker came on as a second-half substitute.

Veliz joined Tottenham from Rosario Central over the summer with Spurs spotting his potential.

Veliz hit 19 goals in 63 games for Rosario but is certainly seen as a project signing in North London.

We have yet to see Veliz in first-team action having been recovering from injury, and he only recently started first-team training.

Veliz was seen celebrating like a madman as Tottenham beat Sheffield United on Saturday afternoon and he finally got to play in a Spurs shirt on Tuesday.

There was no goal for Veliz but he will be glad to just get some minutes under his belt following his summer move.

This was an important night for Veliz and Football London’s Alasdair Gold posted photos of Veliz going through an individual workout after the game.

Spurs are trying to get Veliz ready for Premier League action and it’s not just minutes, but additional fitness work that Tottenham are working on.

Hopefully, Tottenham fans will see Veliz in senior action soon enough, but a few more Under-21 appearances may be needed first.
