Trump shot, Pulitzer Prize Winner Evan Vucci Clicks An Iconic Picture Which Could Change Course Of US History

Images often speak more than words, and there are many instances in history when iconic pictures have changed the course of history.

One such image, if viewers can remember, is the Napalm Girl photo from the Vietnam War shot by AP photographer Nick Ut. It depicted a naked Vietnamese girl running after being burnt by a Napalm bomb attack by the South Vietnamese army, who were supported by the US.

The picture led to huge outrage in the US and was one of the reasons for the US to withdraw from Vietnam.

Evan Vucci’s Iconic Photo Could Change US History

Move over to recent times, the iconic picture of a bleeding Donald Trump raising a fist in defiance with the American flag behind him was clicked by Evan Vucci moments after an assassination attempt on him in Philadelphia.

The picture has everything to change the course of American history in coming times.

In the picture, the Republican presidential candidate and former President Donald Trump can be seen raising his fist in a show of defiance as he is surrounded by U.S. Secret Service agents who rush him to safety from the stage at a campaign rally.

The former President of the US had just begun his speech in Pennsylvania when the shots rang out, and one bullet grazed past his ear.

The Secret Service personnel immediately swarmed around the former president, forming a human shield around him before rushing him off the podium.

It was at this moment when Associated Press photographer Evan Vucci shot him in what is going to be a defining photograph of US history.

However, before leaving the podium, Trump pumped his fist in the air, blood from his ear streaking on his steely face with the American flag behind him.

The iconic moment became immortalized as a picture when Evan Vucci, an award-winning photographer across the podium amid gunfire, wasted no time to click the photo.

David Altizer, a content creator, surmised the whole situation and said,

“Not only is this moment historical, but the photo that Evan Vucci took is also perfect. The level of compositional mastery comes from over two decades of experience in the field and a sharpness that only comes from thousands and thousands of ‘reps.’”

As Vucci ran and clicked the iconic photo, there were many who took the video where his heroic act was chronicled and widely shared on the internet and social media.

Bullets and Vucci are close companions since Vucci is a veteran who has also served in war-torn Iraq, and he is not afraid of bullets. He graduated as a photographer from the war zones of Iraq to the corridors of power in Washington DC, and he has covered it all. Vucci received the Pulitzer Prize in 2021 when he was a part of the Associated Press team for coverage of the aftermath and protests of the death of George Floyd.
