Trump takes a shot at ‘nasty’ Megyn Kelly a week after interview grilling

The on-and-off relationship between former President Donald J. Trump and conservative commentator Megyn Kelly may be heading for the rocks again after remarks that he made during a Wednesday campaign stop.

Trump was grilled by Kelly during his extended interview that aired last week on her Sirius/XM show, having to among other things, defend his record, including not firing Dr. Anthony Fauci. And while the two appeared to be cordial, there may be some lingering hard feelings on his part.

On his latest swing through the critical early-voting state of Iowa, the embattled Republican frontrunner took a shot at Kelly and her tough questions, calling her “pretty nasty” during an event in Maquoketa where he spoke to supporters.

“I sat down for an hour, and then I did a Megyn Kelly one,” he told the crowd, referring to the “Meet the Press” sit-down with the longrunning NBC Sunday morning show’s new host Kristen Welker, the other major interview he did last week.

“And she just, you know, boy, she became nastier all of a sudden. She was pretty nasty, didn’t ya think? Anybody that watched it?” Trump asked.

Kelly’s questions included one that created a bit of a political problem for Trump when she asked him whether a man could become a woman, a question that appeared to have caught him off guard.

She was also relentless on his handling of the elfin Fauci, not letting Trump off the hook for making him into a “star” by trotting him out during the daily COVID briefings.

The two had seemingly patched things up since their feud that stemmed from Kelly’s gotcha question of him back when she was a Fox News moderator at a 2015 debate during his first presidential run, one that the unflappable billionaire brilliantly answered with an epic response that propelled him past his establishment challengers and, eventually, into the White House.

“You’ve called women you don’t like, fat pigs, dogs, slobs and disgusting animals,” Kelly led off, before Trump paused and then brought the house down with his epic response of, “Only Rosie O’Donnell,” and just like that, a legend was born.

During their interview, Kelly and Trump revisited the Rosie O’Donnell question.

“I like Trump,” Kelly told Newsmax host Eric Bolling last week. “You know, our relationship is complicated a little, I think on both ends, because of everything that happened around that question, that debate.”

“Anyway, it’s a little complicated, but I think we both respect each other,” she said. “It’s kind of like two silverback gorillas, right? He knows, even though I like him, I have to ask him tough questions because that’s my job, and I know that even though he’s inclined to like me, he’s still ticked off about that debate question.”
