Vice President and Democratic Presidential candidate Kamala Harris is facing a lot of flak after wearing a pricey necklace worth $62,000 while giving an interview on CNN.
The interview, which took place on June 27, 2024, just before the disastrous Presidential debate between Joe Biden and Donald Trump, featured Kamala Harris vigorously defending President Biden, who was facing immense pressure from his party colleagues to step down.
In the interview, Vice President Kamala Harris highlighted the administration’s achievements and said,
“The Joe Biden of the 90s is someone who has delivered 800,000 new manufacturing jobs and is bringing manufacturing back to the United States. What became very clear over the course of the evening is that Joe Biden is fighting on behalf of the American people on substance, policy, and performance.”
Kamala Harris’ $60,000 Tiffany Necklace
However, more than her words, the viewer’s attention shifted to the exclusive piece of jewellery she was wearing.
On closer examination, it was revealed that the necklace worn by Harris is a piece from the Tiffany HardWear collection, known as the ‘Bold Graduated Link Necklace’.
The necklace, which is 19 inches long, is described by Tiffany & Co. as follows:
“Reinterprets our distinctive rings on an enlarged scale and is masterfully crafted in 18k yellow gold for a look that is sure to attract attention.”
However, Harris’s unabashed display of her opulence did not augur well with the viewers and led to a deluge of caustic comments from the users.
One user posted,
“Dems decided to send Kamala Harris out in a $62,000 Tiffany necklace to reassure the middle class that she and the corpse we just saw wheeze through a debate have their best interests at heart!”
Rob Smith, a conservative personality, commented,
“The Democrats decided to send Kamala Harris with a $62,000 necklace to reassure the middle class that she and the corpse we just saw gasping through a debate have their best interests at heart!”
Another user commented,
“Normally, when called for cleanup duty, you don’t show up in a $60K Tiffany necklace.”
This is not the first time the Vice President has worn this necklace.
Instead of the usual signature pearls which she wore on occasions, Kamala wore the same gold Tiffany & Co. necklace, pairing it with an American flag brooch during the 2024 State of the Union address.
It did not go unnoticed by media houses, and Vogue Magazine reported on the event.
It even detailed the jewellery and stated that it was part of the Tiffany HardWear collection, inspired by a 1962 bracelet found in the company’s archives.
