Kendrick was a student at the school which is located in Valdosta, Georgia. The victim’s family has rejected the official’s conclusion that their son died by accident.

Brian Bell Allegations: What Did He Do?
The Johnson family has steadfastly rejected the official conclusion that Kendrick Johnson’s death was accidental.
They have pointed fingers at Brian and Branden Bell, accusing them of murdering Johnson.
A confession tape was once brought into the public eye, adding another layer of complexity to the case.
An unidentified individual claimed responsibility for creating this audiotape, which was initially presented as containing Brian’s confession to Johnson’s murder.
However, in March 2021, it was revealed that the so-called confession tape was a fabrication.
The man who provided the tape, who had claimed to be a second cousin of the Bells, later admitted to producing the fraudulent audiotape.
Sheriff Ashley Paulk of Lowndes County stated that their investigation found no evidence of the Bells having a second cousin.
Furthermore, on 20 June 2016, the Department of Justice announced that they would not be pressing any criminal charges in relation to Johnson’s death.
They stated, “Federal investigators determined that there is insufficient evidence to prove that someone willfully violated Johnson’s civil rights or committed any other prosecutable federal crime.”
In a significant development, in January 2022, the second investigation into the case was closed, with no charges filed.
Victim Family Filed A Lawsuit Against GBI
Kendrick Johnson’s parents have filed a legal complaint against both the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office.

The victim’s parents alleged GBI of “false information” in the investigation into their son’s death.
“It’s disheartening that we’ve had to fight for 10 long years, and it seems like nobody cares about Kendrick,” said the victim’s mother, Jackie Johnson.
“He’s just another child they want to sweep under the rug,” added Kendrick’s mother.
A decade has passed since Johnson’s body was discovered by classmates who alerted a coach, leading to the involvement of emergency personnel.
As mentioned, the sheriff’s investigators quickly concluded that Johnson died in a freak accident.
They said the teenager was trapped upside down and unable to breathe while attempting to retrieve a shoe that had fallen inside an upright mat.
Johnson’s parents have consistently maintained that their son was murdered and that school officials and law enforcement covered up the crime.
“We live there. We know the town. We know how they lie. We know how they cover up for each other,” stated Kendrick’s father, Kenneth Johnson.
Furthermore, the victim’s parents alleged a cover-up and have filed a $1 billion lawsuit to address what they claim is false information in Sheriff Ashley Paulk’s case summary.
They argue that the evidence contradicts the cause of death on the death certificate.
Johnson’s mom and dad also claim that their son’s body showed damage similar to a Taser impact.
The victim’s family also accused the medical examiner of mutilating their son’s body during the autopsy.
