Kelly Fisher, played by Erin Richards, is introduced in The Crown season 5 finale, but the fiancée of Dodi Fayed (Khalil Abdalla) won’t actually marry him. Kelly becomes part of the love triangle set up by the end of The Crown season 5, which is further explored in the Netflix show’s subsequent outing. Dodi’s father, Mohamed Al-Fayed (Salim Daw), invites his friend, Princess Diana (Elizabeth Debicki), and her sons to vacation on his yacht in Saint-Tropez in the summer of 1997. This sets off a tragic chain of events that leads to the deaths of Dodi and Diana on August 31, 1997.

In real life, Fisher claimed Fayed dumped her via phone call soon after he got involved with Diana in the summer of 1997, on the same day their relationship was reported by the press (via GoodTo.com). The model accused Fayed of two-timing her and Diana in an interview with the News of the World, for which Fisher was paid £200,000. Kelly retained famed attorney Gloria Allred as her legal counsel, and she intended to sue Fayed but dropped the case following the deaths of Dodi Fayed and Diana.
The Crown season 5 insinuates that Mohamed Al-Fayed disapproved of his son “marrying a model,“ even though he wed Finnish model and socialite Heini Wathén in 1985. He’s shown maneuvering Diana into meeting Dodi in Saint-Tropez in The Crown season 6, with the hopes that his son could marry into the royal family. Despite Diana’s divorce from Prince Charles and her estrangement from the House of Windsor, Fayed could have been stepfather to a future king and fathered his own children with Diana. Based on the dismissive treatment of her, Fisher didn’t seem to factor into Al-Fayed’s plans as they play out in The Crown.

Although Kelly Fisher’s relationship with Dodi Fayed comes to an end in The Crown, it’s possible that she could return in season 6 as all the characters continue to deal with the aftermath of Dodi Fayed and Princess Diana’s deaths.
