Beginning her career as a production journalist at ITV Central in 1989, Kate moved on to co-present on ITV News Meridian in 1996, where she also met Ian Rumsey, her first husband, with whom she was married from 1998 to 2002.

The two allegedly split up after Kate threw him out over rumors he had an affair with a different TV host, according to Mirror Online.

It was informed by one of Kate’s close friends that “she says he was cheating on her for some time and that’s why she threw him out.”

Ian consistently refuted the allegations, attributing the breakup to Kate’s demanding schedule and 2 a.m. start times as GMTV’s host, filling in for the departing Fiona Phillips, who was on maternity leave.

When Kate made a quick statement to address the rumors, she effectively put an end to the situation.

However, it all ended four years later when she allegedly threw him out due to rumors that he had an affair with a younger TV hostess, which Ian has consistently refuted.

Friends informed the Mirror at the time that Kate, who had just been chosen to fill in for Fiona Phillips during her maternity leave on GMTV, had thrown her husband out of their £500,000 Cookham, Berkshire house after he had allegedly confessed.

A close acquaintance insisted, “She says he was cheating on her for some time, which is why she threw him out.”
