Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith‘s relationship had been faced with open marriage rumors back in 2013 when steamy photos of the I Am Legend actor alongside Margot Robbie first surfaced online. While Margot eventually ended up getting married to her now-husband, Tom Ackerley. The rumors about her relationship with Will still linger on social media.

Back in 2013, Will and Margot came together for their movie Focus. As the movie began the shooting process, there were various rumors that suggested the stars were more close to each other than one would have expected.
Shortly after, various sources who allegedly knew about the couple came forward and spoke about the alleged relationship between Will and Margot for a Star Magazine interview. It was during this that two pictures of the pair came forward. The first one showed Margot and Will posing together with their shirts raised above while the second was a normal picture of them posing for the camera. These were quick to spark rumors about an open marriage.
While the photos came as a surprise, Margot came forward to dismiss the rumors that there was anything going on between them. She said: “Been working non-stop, just catching my breath. There’s absolutely no truth to the ridiculous rumor in Star mag…’ adding that ‘It’s disappointing that goofing around on set could be taken so out of context.”
When did Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith separate?
In her memoir Worthy, Jada revealed that she and Will separated in 2016. The actress admitted there had been multiple reasons that their marriage ended.
She said: “I feel like just not being ready yet and still trying to figure out between the two of us. How to be in partnership and in regards to how to present it to the people, and we hadn’t figured that out.”
The actress further added that they felt ‘exhausted’ while trying to fix their marriage and ultimately decided to lead separate lives while still staying married.
Why the pair hasn’t gotten a divorce
In their 26 years of relationship, the pair has had various ups and downs. However, they did not confirm their split until now.
Speaking about why they have not divorced, Jada said: “I made a promise that there will never be a reason for us to get a divorce. We will work through whatever. I just haven’t been able to break that promise.”
As of now, Will has not commented on this.
