Yakuza Fiancé Episode 7 Review: Played Him Like A Fiddle

Yakuza Fiancé Episode 7 Review: Today’s episode of Yakuza Fiancé or Raise wa Tanin ga Ii (来世は他人がいい) proved why Yoshino is the protagonist. Let us see how this episode turned out.
Yakuza Fiancé Episode 6 Recap

In this episode, the layers of Kirishima’s character become even more evident. It kicks off with a conversation between Tsubaki and Yoshino about Kirishima’s fascination with Yoshino. When Tsubaki asks if Yoshino thinks his declaration of love is genuine, she bluntly responds that it’s merely an obsession, nothing more. However, this discussion plants a seed of curiosity in Yoshino, making her realize how little she truly knows about her fiancé and sparking a desire to understand him better.
Meanwhile, Kirishima seems to be on a completely different path. He decides to reach out to an old flame, Nao, who has become a well-known newscaster and a familiar face in the entertainment industry. She’s also previously dated Ozu, a man from a wealthy family. Despite her impressive social standing, Nao maintains friendly relations with everyone on the surface. However, beneath her amiable exterior lies a cunning and shrewd personality.

It’s no surprise, then, that when Kirishima—an ex-lover she once shared a memorable relationship with—reconnects with her, she eagerly engages. Despite his vocal proclamations of eternal love for Yoshino, Kirishima’s actions suggest a different story. Still, can we truly blame him for straying when he and Yoshino aren’t in a genuine relationship, and his affection is one-sided?
Yakuza Fiancé Episode 7 Review

Today’s segment completely flipped the narrative shown in the past two episodes. At first, it was implied that Kirishima was seeking out Nao because of attraction, however, now we see that was not the case. From the very beginning, he had a motive behind pursuing her and acting as if he still missed her. There is something very big happening in the background of this Osaka trip, and we will only get to know more about it in the next episode.
This one begins with Yoshino visiting a prospective college she might join after school. For obvious reasons, Nao also orchestrates a meeting with Yoshino without the presence of Kirishima. A conversation takes place between them, and right off the bat, Nao establishes that Yoshino is a nasty and stupid woman who doesn’t really have much going for her. They even talk about Kirishima, where Nao reveals some information about his background to Yoshino, and they exchange contacts.

Apart from that, we also see Yoshino and Kirishima go on a short date. Here, it almost felt like Yoshino was trying to study him better, and Kirishima wanted to say something to her, then decided against it at the very last moment. All these vague interactions and Kirishima’s secretive behaviour were indeed alarming. However, when we finally get to know why he has been acting like this and for what goal he was pursuing Nao, everything falls into place.
Kirishima is indeed a crafty and manipulative man who essentially cares about no one. Even the affection that he shows other women all the time comes from practice because he just mimics whatever behaviour he thinks would entice a girl. But everything changed when Yoshino entered his life. For the first time, the emotions he experienced weren’t calculated or part of a learned routine, but they came genuinely from his heart. Apart from that, I also believe Yoshino is the only one who can be with him, as only she has the might to control him.

Verdict
The episode was already very interesting from the beginning, but the way it ended, everything became even better. In the last segment, it is proved that Yoshino can not be controlled as she is just too prepared. Kirishima might think that he can get away with doing whatever he wants, but that will not be the case when it comes to his beloved.
