All 38 Movies & TV Shows Leaving Netflix This Month

Summary

  • Netflix is known for constantly changing its lineup, with shows and movies leaving the service regularly.
  • Several popular titles will be leaving Netflix in December 2023, including The Hills, Sing 2, Kath & Kim, Puss in Boots, Taylor Swift: Reputation Stadium Tour, and Us.
  • Many beloved films will also be removed from Netflix at the end of December, such as the Mission: Impossible series, Anchorman movies, Jaws franchise, Saving Private Ryan, American Beauty, Gladiator, The Wolf of Wall Street, and more.

The ever-popular streaming service Netflix features a bevy of new content that comes and goes each month, but some key shows and movies are leaving in December 2023. Since its inception, Netflix has positioned itself as the preeminent streaming service, and they were one of the first to delve into the world of original content, which has produced hit shows like Stranger Things and Orange is the New Black. However, the streamer also has a great reputation for hosting other content, and they are a one-stop-shop for everything from classic series to some of Hollywood’s biggest films.

The streamer has to change its lineup from month to month, and that means that shows and movies are leaving the service all the time. While Netflix’s comings and goings aren’t all that unusual, the dropping of certain original content in recent months has represented a major change for the company. Though many of Netflix’s longest-running originals seem to be there to stay, other shows and movies are departing the streamer for new homes or are simply being dropped altogether from the service. While some things might be gone for good, the departures open the door for brand-new content in the coming months.

The Early Days Of The Hills

One of the shows that helped to popularize reality series aimed at the young adult audience will be losing its earlier seasons on Netflix. The Hills was a spinoff of the reality series Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County and followed Lauren Conrad and the various people in her life in the affluent community of Los Angeles. The show introduced a number of personalities who would continue to be a part of the reality television world for years to come, such as Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt, and this will be the last chance to see their early days on Netflix.

December 21

A Fun Musical Sequel

One of the most popular animated titles of the past few years will be leaving Netflix on December 21. Sing 2 was the successful sequel to the hit Sing, following the further adventures of Buster Moon and his musically-inclined critter friends. This sequel finds Buster attempting to pull off a big show that features the comeback performance of a reclusive rock star (voiced by U2 frontman Bono). Like the original movie, Sing 2‘s winning combination of cute animals singing pop songs makes for a fun family-friendly adventure with a soundtrack that the parents will enjoy as well.

No More Kath & Kim

Gina Riley as Kim and Jane Turner as Kath

  • Da Kath & Kim Code
  • Kath & Kimderella
  • Kath and Kim: Kountdown Specials
  • Kath and Kim: Seasons 1-4
  • Kath and Kim: The Souvenir Editions

Kath and Kim is an Australian sitcom that has expanded into a popular comedy franchise over the years. Unfortunately for fans of the franchise, a number of those titles will be removed from Netflix on December 27. The series was created by Jane Turner and Gina Riley who also star as the two title characters, a bubbly and kind suburban mother and her self-centered and annoying daughter. A collection of colorful characters joined them, filling out their quirky world. Along with the four-season series, the two movies and various specials from the franchise will be taken off of Netflix.

December 28

Puss In Boots’ Animated Series

The Adventures of Puss in Boots

  • The Adventures of Puss in Boots: Seasons 1-6

Puss in Boots: The Last Wish was a critical success, earning an Oscar nomination and revitalizing interest in the franchise. However, those fans hoping to explore the small-screen adventures of the feline swashbuckler will have to do say quickly. All six seasons of the animated series The Adventures of Puss in Boots will be leaving Netflix on December 28. The show follows the charmingly arrogant Puss as he fights off invaders of his peaceful Spanish town. While it will be sad to see the family-friendly series go, hopefully, Puss and the rest of the Shrek gang will return to the movies soon.

December 30

The Departure Of A Taylor Swift Film

Taylor Swift Reputation Tour

  • Taylor Swift: Reputation Stadium Tour
  • Us

Taylor Swift’s current Eras tour continues to be the biggest thing in music right now. However, Netflix won’t be able to ride the popularity of that for much longer and the platform will be losing the previous acclaimed documentary from the pop star. Taylor Swift: Reputation Stadium Tour follows Swift and her team on their globe-trotting adventure, taking a look behind the scenes of the massive undertaking as well as the other struggles for the star.

Also leaving on this date is Jordan Peele’s second directorial effort, Us. Led by Lupita Nyong’o in a SAG-nominated role, it follows a family who getaway to a lakeside vacation only to find themselves hunted by vengeful doppelgängers who are part of an underground society. The movie is another stunning achievement from Peele who once again blends horror, social commentary, and some humor to make an unforgettable experience. It is certainly a horror movie worth seeking out before it leaves Netflix on December 30.
