Nudity in Baldur’s Gate 3 has attracted its fair share of attention, and it looks like that particular facet of the game has just been tuned up one more degree. Although most of the Baldur’s Gate 3 experience is likely to be spent clothed in the average campaign, the game has its bases covered when it comes to disrobing. From unique undergarment options to the somewhat amusing existence of an extensive genitalia lineup, Baldur’s Gate 3 developer Larian Studios has ensured that the game’s emphasis on choice doesn’t end when nighttime falls.
Under the same prioritization of choice, anyone ill at ease with going down this path in Baldur’s Gate 3 is also capable of avoiding it entirely. Potential romances with party members or dalliances with other characters can be ignored entirely, as none are necessary to enjoy the bulk of the game’s narrative elements. Nudity also operates on a toggle system, allowing it to be disabled entirely for a potentially more comfortable experience. This latter option, however, is what necessitated the newest tweaks to adjust the way that nudity works in Baldur’s Gate 3 as a whole.
Hotfix 9 Fixes Some Nudity Problems In Baldur’s Gate 3
The new adjustments to nudity in Baldur’s Gate 3 come courtesy of Hotfix #9, a small batch of changes listed in full by Larian Studios on Steam. The fix targets instances where characters might appear in their underwear in intimate scenes even if nudity was toggled on, an ultimately minor issue that nevertheless may have been disappointing in some campaigns. Hotfixes usually target problems that Larian prefers not to wait for a major patch to adjust, so it’s likely that a number of complaints did occur for a solution to be rolled out in between full patches.
Nudity Isn’t The Only Baldur’s Gate 3 Hotfix Target
As is standard for even hotfixes in Baldur’s Gate 3, however, nudity is only one of a number of fixes now applied to the game. The announcement post leads with a couple of new features for the recently added Magic Mirror, giving it the ability to adjust the appearance of hirelings and adding an option to change the protagonist’s name. A couple of Minthara fixes help to further clean up a character with a bad history of buggy interactions, and other miscellaneous changes include some crash fixes, animation patches, and an optimized line-of-sight system for enemies.
Larian Studios has continued to work steadily on Baldur’s Gate 3 since the game’s launch, and Hotfix #9 is just one part of that continued development and troubleshooting. Although the nudity fix isn’t what the hotfix is billed around, it’s a change that’s likely to find a receptive audience. Baldur’s Gate 3 romance has been through its fair share of changes already, and the newest one helps ensure that everything that Larian Studios promises in that regard will be available without restrictions.
