Below Deck Mediterranean season 8 may have just set sail, but one of the crew members of the Mustique has already departed after a short time on board. A spin-off of the original Below Deck, Below Deck Mediterranean has been one of the more successful series in the franchise. The series follows the crew of a super yacht during charter season in the Mediterranean. With yachts captained by Captain Sandy Yawn, the tone of the series is entirely different from any other Below Deck. Not only does Below Deck Mediterranean season 8 have a new tone, it introduces a whole new crew to the franchise.

Crews on Below Deck are constantly changing, sometimes within a charter season. While Captains, Chief Stews, and First Officers are typically the same on each series, the rest of the Below Deck crew members switch around from season to season as they get opportunities to work different charters in different locations. Below Deck Med is no different, inviting new crew members aboard the yacht season after season. Brooke Boney, who just joined the Mustique crew during the premiere of Below Deck Med, is a new face on the franchise and her incredibly quick departure from the crew surprised viewers.

Brooke Was Only A Temporary Stew

While Brooke was brand new to the yachtie life, it was clear that she was enjoying her time on Below Deck Med, especially in the most recent episode. Brooke, whose father was the founder of a national chain of grocery stores, was looking to do something outside of her comfort zone when she joined the crew of the Mustique as a Second Stew. Without experience, Brooke found the work a bit difficult but ultimately was able to get the hang of things while she was on the crew. It was revealed during Below Deck Med season 8 episode 2 that Brooke was only meant to be a temporary crew member.

Tumi & Kyle Have Joined Below Deck Mediterranean

Although some were sad to see Brooke leave the crew, it wasn’t all sadness aboard the Mustique as two new crew members joined the rest for the charter season. Chief Stew Tumi Mhlongo joined the Mustique along with fellow Stew Kyle Viljoen. Tumi, who was dealing with visa issues prior to boarding the yacht and being able to work, had an awkward first interaction with interim Chief Stew Natalya Scudder by the time he made it aboard. Though the pair clashed, their tension couldn’t dissuade them from ensuring the charter guests were taken care of. Their issues will likely continue to be an undercurrent of Below Deck Med season 8.

With a crew member already departing the Mustique and two others joining the rest of the group, things have been shaken up quickly when it comes to the current charter season. Even though Below Deck Med’s Brooke was a short-term hire, many viewers hope to see her back again in a later season with some more experience under her belt. With Captain Sandy at the helm and some of the most accomplished yachties by her side, it isn’t hard to imagine that Below Deck Mediterranean season 8 will be an interesting one.

Below Deck Mediterranean airs Mondays at 8 p.m. EDT on Bravo.
