Coach hails £13m Tottenham signing’s ‘incredible’ ability

Tottenham Hotspur striker Alejo Veliz appears to have big potential – and his aerial ability has been branded truly ‘incredible’.

Alejo Veliz could provide Tottenham Hotspur with a real target man presence up front thanks to his aerial prowess.

That is the verdict of his former coach Adrian Dezotti, who has been speaking to The Athletic about the Spurs striker.

Tottenham moved to land Veliz from Rosario Central in August, forking out around £13million for the centre forward.

A host of other clubs were interested in Veliz but Tottenham moved in with a relatively hefty deal for a then-19-year-old featuring in Argentina.

Tottenham Hotspur talent Alejo Veliz praised

Veliz is a raw talent but did show potential with Rosario Central having hit 19 goals in 63 games for the Argentinian side.

An Argentina Under-20 international, Veliz will have to be brought along slowly in Premier League action.

Veliz has only appeared twice in the Premier League so far, featuring for just a couple of minutes in substitute appearances.

The hope is that Veliz can become a star for Tottenham and he has now been hailed by a former coach.

Ex-Rosario Central coach Adrian Dezotti has now suggested that nobody in the Premier League can match Veliz’s aerial ability.

Not Virgil van Dijk, not Ruben Dias, it’s Veliz for Dezotti as he branded the Spurs talent’s aerial prowess simply ‘incredible’.

“I watch a lot of English football and there is no other Premier League player who has the aerial game that Alejo has. It’s incredible,” said Dezotti.

Tottenham could have a very exciting future

The start to this season has been exciting enough for Tottenham supporters but there could be even more to come.

Tottenham appear to be building up quite the squad for the coming years.

Destiny Udogie, Micky van de Ven and Pape Matar Sarr have made strong starts to the season and have huge potential for the future.

Recent signings Veliz, Ashley Phillips and Luka Vuskovic are being tabbed as wonderkids too whilst there are high hopes for homegrown pair Jamie Donley and Alfie Dorrington.

If Ange Postecoglou can keep developing these players, Tottenham may well be able to field a host of top talents down the line.
