It’s the final season of Captain Michael Burnham’s 32nd-century adventures.
Star Trek: Discovery season 5 is a change in tone from the previous season’s dire, galaxy-ending crises to a hunt for “the greatest treasure in the known galaxy.” Paramount+’s press release for Star Trek: Discovery season 5 at CCXP says the USS Discovery will uncover “a mystery that will send them on an epic adventure across the galaxy to find an ancient power whose very existence has been deliberately hidden for centuries. But there are others on the hunt as well … dangerous foes who are desperate to claim the prize for themselves and will stop at nothing to get it.” These new enemies include Elias Toufexis as L’ak and Eve Harlow as Moll, who join Star Trek: Discovery‘s cast as a pair of rogues out to foil Captain Burnham’s treasure hunt.

Following the announcement that Star Trek: Discovery season 5 is the show’s final season, reshoots were completed before the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes to turn Discovery season 5’s last episode into a proper series finale. The first half of Star Trek: Discovery‘s ending was directed by Jonathan Frakes, and the final episode was directed by Olatunde Osunsanmi. With the strikes now over, Paramount+ will build towards the premiere of the final season of Star Trek: Discovery to bid Captain Burnham and the crew of the USS Discovery a well-deserved sendoff – but not before one more awe-inspiring intergalactic adventure.
