Star Trek: Discovery season 5 already answers a big question left after the season 4 finale. Discovery season 4 followed Captain Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) and the crew of the USS Discovery as they investigated the destructive Dark Matter Anomaly, or DMA. Discovery season 4 also added new complications to the romance between Michael Burnham and Cleveland Booker (David Ajala). Because Book’s home planet of Kwejian was destroyed by the DMA, he wanted to destroy the anomaly, while Burnham and other Federation representatives wanted to contact Species 10-C, who created the DMA.

After the United Federation of Planets and their allies voted to attempt First Contact with Species 10-C, Booker joined with mad scientist Dr. Ruon Tarka (Shawn Doyle), who had a weapon capable of destroying the DMA. This created a rift between Book and Burnham, as the Captain of Discovery’s vote for First Contact helped secure the final verdict. Booker and Burnham then ended their relationship, and Star Trek: Discovery season 4’s finale saw Booker sent to Europa to aid in Federation relief efforts. Despite their separation, Booker and Burnham work together again in Star Trek: Discovery season 5, as seen in the below clip which debuted at CCXP in Brazil.

Burnham And Book Team-Up Again In Star Trek: Discovery Season 5 But Are They Back Together?

Star Trek Discovery Michael Burnham Cleveland Booker

With a galactic treasure hunt as its central storyline, Star Trek: Discovery season 5 will take the show in a new direction for its final season. The above clip contains some fun action and fascinating aliens, while also revealing that Burnham and Booker are working alongside one another again. While it’s unclear if they have resumed a romantic relationship, they appear to be on good terms, with the sins of the past at least mostly forgiven. Discovery‘s first couple has always worked well together, and Michael and Vook developed a tight rapport throughout their relationship that makes them excellent partners in a fight.

Michael and Book first began seeing one another in Star Trek: Discovery season 3, episode 6, “Scavengers,” when they shared their first kiss in a turbolift.

Booker and Burnham have had their fair share of ups and downs over the course of their relationship in Star Trek: Discovery, and they have not always seen eye to eye. Still, as evidenced by their action scene in Star Trek: Discovery season 5, they make a good team. While it appears that Book and Michael are now on good terms, it’s possible that they agreed to put aside their differences for the sake of the mission. But considering the mistakes Burnham has made and overcome in her own past, it seems likely that she would forgive Booker. Not only had Book lost his entire planet, but he also tried to do the right thing once he realized his mistake.

Star Trek: Discovery Has 3 Big Love Stories, Including Burnham and Book

In its four seasons so far, Star Trek: Discovery has featured more romance than most of the Star Trek shows that came before it. Book and Burnham have certainly been one of the highlights, but two other couples have had significant storylines as well. Dr. Hugh Culber (Wilson Cruz) and Commander Paul Stamets (Anthony Rapp) have been married since before the show began, making them Discovery’s longest-lasting couple. Aside from a brief period of separation after Culber was resurrected from the mycelial network, the two have remained very much in love.

Star Trek: Discovery also introduced a romance for Captain Saru (Doug Jones), which soon became one of Star Trek’s sweetest burgeoning love stories. As the Federation slowly worked towards rebuilding, the planet Ni’Var (formerly Vulcan) eventually rejoined with the full support of their president, T’Rina (Tara Rosling). As T’Rina and Saru had more interactions with one another, they began to realize they felt a mutual attraction. After the successful negotiation with Species 10-C and Discovery’s return to Earth, T’Rina and Saru decided to pursue a romantic relationship. This leaves Star Trek: Discovery with three big romances to wrap up in its upcoming final season.
