I Woke Up a Vampire is the latest kids show dominating family households across the world, but fans are frustrated by confirmation that Netflix will delay the release of episode 9 and instead split the show into two seasons. Here is everything to know about the series.
I Woke Up a Vampire episode 9 to be re-released as season 2
Season 1 of I Woke Up a Vampire actually includes 16 episodes that aired between May and September on the Family Channel, a Canadian specialty network from WildBrain – with episode 9 being released all the way back in July 2023.
Despite I Woke Up a Vampire season 1 having a total of 16 episodes and episode 9 being in its library, Netflix has decided to delay the release of episodes 9-16 in favor of splitting the launch across two individual seasons.
The reason why Netflix is delaying the release of episode 9 and labeling it as season 2 hasn’t specifically been revealed. However, the streaming giant looks to maintain both interest and viewership in a series for as long as physically (or digitally) possible in order to generate more revenue.
It’s the same reason why some of Netflix’s major shows such as Stranger Things and The Witcher release over multiple parts instead of in one big premiere – although that doesn’t mean this still isn’t incredibly frustrating for fans.
Editor for the series Rob Chandler recently confirmed on his personal website that the remaining episodes would be released as ‘season 2’ on Netflix and that the final set of episodes will arrive before the end of 2023:
“A super cool project I cut just dropped on NETFLIX worldwide “I WOKE UP A VAMPIRE” a big exciting scripted teen show, 2 Seasons back to back.”
The episode synopses for the remaining chapters of I Woke Up a Vampire, episodes 9 through 16, are as follows:
- Episode 9 (S2 ep 1) ‘My People’ – It’s the first day of high school, and Carmie is determined to leave last year’s Blended drama behind her.
- Episode 10 (S2 ep 2) ‘Track and Steal’ – Carmie tries out for track and field, as the Collector arranges a signing for Kev’s newest venture.
- Episode 11 (S2 ep 3) ‘The Dance’ – Carmie and Leanna prepare for the school dance, as Dylan tracks down answers to a family riddle.
- Episode 12 (S2 ep 4) ‘Wild and Free’ – Carmie, Kev, Dylan, and Leanna take part in a scavenger hunt in the woods.
- Episode 13 (S2 ep 5) ‘Secrets and Lies’ – Carmie and Tristan have a romantic date. Dylan is suspicious and Kev is distracted by Leanna.
- Episode 14 (S2 ep 6) ‘Vamptitude’ – Carmie competes in the track competition, as Kev searches for inspiration.
- Episode 15 (S2 ep 7) ‘Fan Con’ – Carmie, Kev, Dylan, Leanna, the Collector and Tristan head to Fan Con.
- Episode 16 (S2 ep 8) ‘Family Reunion’ – Carmie discovers the truth of herself at Fan Con.
What is I Woke Up a Vampire about?
I Woke Up a Vampire is a coming-of-age comedy series that will be a sure-hit in any household with young children,
“On her 13th birthday, Carmie discovers that she’s actually half human, half vampire and that mythical powers make middle school way more complicated.”
