‘It’s refreshing’: Darren Ambrose blown away by Tottenham defender who plays with ‘no fear’

What a start to Destiny Udogie’s Tottenham Hotspur career!

The 20-year-old has walked into a previously struggling Tottenham team and performed like he has been at the club for years and years.

From battling Bukayo Saka in the north London derby to locking horns with Mohamed Salah, the all-action left-back has dealt with the big challenges that have come his way this season.

That has resulted in Destiny Udogie getting plaudits left, right and centre with Darren Ambrose claiming that he is somebody who plays with ‘no fear’, as he told talkSPORT.

Those performances in Spurs colours have seen him receive recognition on the international stage because, on Tuesday, he earned his first start for Italy against England at Wembley.

You would imagine that there are plenty more of those to come, with Italy, who are the current European champions, still fighting to qualify for Euro 2024 next summer.

Destiny Udogie praise

“Fantastic,” said Ambrose. “There is just no fear. He had Saka one week and Salah the next week. And did fantastically well against both of those players. It is refreshing to see.”

Ange Postecoglou’s role

The new Tottenham boss deserves credit for throwing a young player into the limelight, backing him and watching him flourish.

It’s not the experience of Ben Davies, or Ivan Perisic, prior to his injury, who were handed that left-back spot by Ange Postecoglou.

But a young gun from Italy, who signed in 2022, but only made his debut this season and now looks every bit of the player the fans had hoped he would be.
