Jamie Carragher a big fan of Liverpool’s potential Salah successor

Liverpool are showing an interest in Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Pedro Neto after huge praise from Jamie Carragher.

Pedro Neto is wanted by Liverpool if they need to replace star forward Mohamed Salah in 2024.

That is according to Football Transfers, who report that Neto is on the Liverpool wish list to potentially replace Salah.

The Egyptian star was the subject of bids from Saudi Arabian side Al Ittihad before the English transfer deadline.

Liverpool stood firm but that isn’t the end of the matter with Al Ittihad expected to come back in with a new offer in 2024.

The Reds would be wise to have potential replacements in mind, just in case they receive an offer they simply can’t refuse.

Liverpool want Pedro Neto

It’s now suggested that Neto is a name on Liverpool’s radar having been tracked by the Reds for some time.

Liverpool are thought to be ‘unhappy’ with the asking price for Neto though, believing that they could be priced out of a deal.

Neto has bounced back from a couple of major injury problems to enjoy a superb start to the new season.

The 23-year-old has bagged one goal and four assists in seven games to start the campaign, as well as forcing an own goal from Ruben Dias in Manchester City’s defeat at Wolves on Saturday.

Neto isn’t a ready-made superstar who can go in and immediately replace Salah’s impact, but few players in the game could do that.

Liverpool would have the belief that Neto can be developed and nurtured into a Salah replacement though, whilst providing that driving, left-footed force down the right flank.

Jamie Carragher a big fan of Neto

Neto looked destined for stardom just a few years ago before injuries curtailed his development.

We are now seeing Neto getting back to his very best and one man who would surely love a Liverpool move is Jamie Carragher.

The former Reds defender and now pundit told Sky Sports in March that Neto was a ‘superstar’ before his injury problems and could provide ‘magic’ for Wolves.

That has certainly happened so far this season with Neto proving to be a constant menace for Premier League defenders.

The challenge now is to stay fit and avoid another injury problem; if he can do that alongside his impressive performances, Liverpool may well make their move.
