Johan Lange may try to sign £45m player for Tottenham in January
Tottenham Hotspur have brought in Johan Lange and he is already driving the club’s interest in signing Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips.
Johan Lange hasn’t even started work at Tottenham Hotspur yet but is already keen on landing Kalvin Phillips.
That is according to The Telegraph, who claim that Lange is a big fan of Manchester City midfielder Phillips.
Tottenham have raided Aston Villa for Lange, making the Dane their new technical director moving forward.
Lange will only arrive in North London on November 1st but rumours about who he could target for Tottenham are already emerging…

The Telegraph claim that Lange is a ‘big fan’ of Phillips and may look to sign him in January.
That would depend on Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg leaving the club in January amid rumours about his future.
Hojbjerg hasn’t started a single Premier League game this season and Tottenham may look to sell him in order to bring in somebody like Phillips.
The Manchester City midfielder clearly needs to leave the Etihad Stadium in order to play regular first-team football.
Phillips hasn’t even been starting with Rodri out of action and with Euro 2024 on the horizon, he simply needs to leave.
Phillips joined City in a £45million move from Leeds United in 2022 but just hasn’t played enough, meaning he must seriously consider joining Tottenham in 2024.
Tottenham may face Bayern Munich battle for Phillips
A move to Spurs should appeal to Phillips but Tottenham do also face major competition from Harry Kane’s Bayern Munich.
Reports from 90Min earlier this week suggested that Bayern have already made contact over a potential deal for Phillips.
Thomas Tuchel has been desperate to land a holding midfielder since the end of last season but missed out on Joao Palhinha late in the summer window.
Bayern could now turn to Phillips, no doubt fully aware that he will be tempted to leave City in 2024.
Battling Bayern won’t be easy but Lange may well drive the interest and hope that his admiration for Phillips can help Tottenham win the race.
