Liverpool continue to chase Brazilian midfielder after August bid

Liverpool are still showing a strong interest in signing Fluminense midfielder Andre Trindade having scouted him this week.

Fluminense midfielder Andre remains on the Liverpool transfer wish list ahead of the January transfer window.

That is according to a report from 90min, who claim that Liverpool are still monitoring Andre.

The Reds were desperate to revamp their midfield over the summer and ended up signing four new options for Jurgen Klopp’s engine room.

Alexis Mac Allister came in from Brighton and Hove Albion before a triple Bundesliga raid, landing Dominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endo and Ryan Gravenberch from RB Leipzig, Stuttgart and Bayern Munich respectively.

Liverpool seem happy with their options for now, but may still fancy adding one more holding midfielder in 2024…

Liverpool remain interested in signing Andre

It’s suggested that Liverpool have continued to scout Fluminense star Andre after the end of the summer transfer window.

Reds scouts allegedly attended Fluminense’s win over International on Thursday as they booked their place in the Copa Libertadores final.

Liverpool did want Andre over the summer but Fluminense refused to sell because of their Copa Libertadores campaign.

Now into the final against Boca Juniors, Fluminense’s stance has paid off with Andre playing a vital role in their run.

Andre may well leave after the final in November, with Liverpool showing a firm interest in luring him to England.

Andre could be competition for Wataru Endo

Liverpool went for an experienced anchor man in Endo, landing the Japan international off the back of his Bundesliga displays.

Endo turns 31 in February though and may not be the long-term answer for Liverpool and landing a player for the future may be very appealing.

Hailed as a ‘quick’ midfielder by South American football expert Tim Vickery, Andre could fit the bill at just 22 and Liverpool may hope to finally land the Brazilian during the January transfer window.

ESPN reported in August that Liverpool had failed with a £25.5million bid for Andre, but he wanted to make the move to Anfield.

We can only imagine that Andre wouldn’t change his stance in January and Liverpool may well move to add another natural holding player to Jurgen Klopp’s squad.
