Mikel Arteta wants Arsenal to sign £206,000-a-week player because of William Saliba

Arsenal were linked with Aurelien Tchouameni in the summer transfer window, and it seems that manager Mikel Arteta has not given up on signing the France international defensive midfielder.

Defensa Central reported in July 2023 that Arsenal were interested in signing Aurelien Tchouameni from Real Madrid in the summer of 2023.

Arsenal linked with Real Madrid star Aurelien Tchouameni… again

The report claimed that Arsenal were ready to increase their initial offer from €80 million (£70 million) to €90 million (£61 million), including bonuses, for Tchouameni.

The 23-year-old France international defensive midfielder reportedly did not want to leave, and Madrid themselves were not willing to sell him.

So, Tchouameni stayed at Madrid.

Arsenal, though, seem very, very keen on Tchouameni.

According to Football Transfers, Arsenal have made Tchouameni “their number one midfield target in the summer transfer window”.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta personally wants the Frenchman at the Emirates Stadium.

Arteta wants Tchouameni to play in the No. 6 role which would push Declan Rice to play further forward in midfield.

The report has added that “having Tchouameni playing in front of fellow Frenchman and international teammate William Saliba is another reason why Arteta wants to bring the midfielder across from the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium to the Emirates at the end of the season.”

William Saliba is one of the best young defenders in the world and is a key player for Arsenal.

My View: Aurelien Tchouameni unlikely to leave Real Madrid for Arsenal

In my opinion, it is very unlikely that Aurelien Tchouameni will leave Real Madrid for Arsenal in the summer of 2024.

Of course, I know that Arsenal are a massive club and are a global brand, but Real Madrid are the pinnacle of club football.

Madrid are (arguably?) the biggest club in the world and have an unmatched pedigree in European football.

Why would Tchouameni want to leave Madrid, especially as he is now playing regularly?

The 23-year-old has made nine starts and one substitute appearance in La Liga for Madrid so far this season.

The France international has scored one goal in those games.

The £206,000-a-week (SalarySport) defensive midfielder has made two starts and one substitute appearance in the UEFA Champions League.

I do not think that Tchouameni would even think of leaving Madrid for Arsenal anytime soon.
