Peacock’s Yellowstone ad branded a ‘declaration of war’ against CBS

Yellowstone ads for streaming on Peacock have aired during the CBS premiere of season 1 and it’s a “declaration of war”, as the ad cleverly quotes from one of the American neo-western series’ characters.

Created by Taylor Sheridan, Yellowstone has been a phenomenon for years now. Nevertheless, audiences will continue to spread the word to those who haven’t been enlightened to the show’s exceptional quality, extending to the prequels 1883 and 1923. Fans are still waiting on season 5 part 2 to premiere but CBS recently rolled out their premiere of season 1, with all episodes set to follow. However, Peacock wants to remind fans it’s been the home of Yellowstone longer with new ads.

Peacock ads for Yellowstone air on CBS

Yellowstone began its premiere on CBS on Sunday, September 24th 2023, with audiences invited to watch the entire series weekly over the coming months.

Those who are tuning into the show for the very first time are sure to be delighted with the opportunity. On the other hand, those familiar with the series are likely to notice that CBS has edited certain sequences so episodes better reflect the demands of the censors.

That means some nudity, language, etc. have been cut from the CBS airings.

Notably, ads to stream Yellowstone on Peacock have begun to air during the ad slots when episodes show on the network.

The ad assures viewers that “Peacock has all episodes of Yellowstone,” and can “Stream every season now.”

During the ad, a clip from the series shows a character saying “This is a declaration of war,” which can be interpreted as a tongue-in-cheek comment on CBS and Peacock seeking out audiences for the very same series.

Is Yellowstone on CBS edited?

Indeed, episodes premiering on CBS have been edited whereas Peacock is streaming the original versions uncensored.

“[Audiences] should know that the Peacock episodes won’t be the same as what CBS is showing,” one fan began tweeting. “They’ve hacked up the storylines like Edward Scissorhands. The 3rd episode was if I’m not mistaken spliced with 4th in parts. It’s a trainwreck. Pay for Peacock.”

Another similarly reacted “For all you folks watching Yellowstone on CBS, don’t bother. It’s just not the same without Beth swearing like a sailor! No one does it better. They must’ve had cut or VO 1/2 her scenes. Pay for Peacock. I promise, some part of you will come to [love] the complexity of her character.”
