Summary
- Pedro Pascal has reportedly been cast as Reed Richards in the Fantastic Four movie, which means Star Wars fans may never see Din Djarin without his helmet again.
- Pascal shares the Mandalorian suit with stunt actors and mostly does voice-over work, so it’s likely that he will continue playing the part through voice acting even in season 4.
- The decision to keep Din Djarin’s helmet on in The Mandalorian season 3 was likely made because Pascal would be too busy, but there is still a possibility of seeing Pascal’s face in future Star Wars projects.
The Mandalorian star Pedro Pascal has reportedly been cast as Reed Richards (aka Mr. Fantastic) in the MCU’s Fantastic Four movie – and Star Wars fans believe they’ll never see Din Djarin unmask again. Pedro Pascal has become one of the biggest Hollywood stars of them all, and that’s meant time has become a premium for him. This already had a notable impact on The Mandalorian season 3, because most viewers believe there was a simple reason an unmasking plot was abandoned; because he was too busy. By all accounts, Pascal is set to become a whole lot busier by the time The Mandalorian season 4 begins filming.
The latest reports suggest Pedro Pascal has been cast in Marvel’s Fantastic Four movie, playing the part of Reed Richards – the superhuman genius known as Mr. Fantastic, leader of the team. As brilliant as the casting may be, Star Wars viewers are now confident they will never get to see Din Djarin without a helmet again.
Pascal shares the Mandalorian suit with stunt actors Brendan Wayne and Lateef Crowder, with Pascal himself mostly doing voice-over work. That will presumably be the norm going forward.
Will Pedro Pascal Return As Din Djarin In The Mandalorian Season 4 & Beyond?
Sadly, viewers are probably right that Din Djarin won’t be removing his helmet in The Mandalorian season 4. This will at least allow Pascal to continue playing the part through voice-over acting, recording the lines.
This was always going to be the case, though, even before any discussion of the Fantastic Four casting. The Mandalorian seasons 1 and 2 clearly set up an arc in which Din Djarin realized there were other Mandalorian ways, and chose to remove his helmet; The Mandalorian season 3 swiftly pivoted away from that, with Din choosing to keep his helmet. The decision was likely made for the simple out-of-universe reason Pascal wouldn’t be available.
This doesn’t mean Star Wars will be entirely without Pascal’s face, though. Lucasfilm’s Dave Filoni is building up to a movie set during The Mandalorian era, and a blockbuster would surely be enough to tempt Pascal back for a brief shot of his face. An appearance in The Mandalorian season 4 is unlikely, but the future beyond that is still bright.
